On the 1st Day of Christmas, ResLife advised me....
If you are putting up decorations in your flat, make sure you do not hang them near to cookers, light fittings or electrical appliances.

Nominations for positions on the Residents Association close this week, see the link here for how to get involved with running the social life in our Halls including managing a budget of £60,000! Involvement with the RA committee can also contribute towards Stellify, so another good incentive to get involved.
Nominations for a variety of positions closes on Sunday 7th October.

Wi-Fi: there will be a brief 5-10 minute outage of the Eduroam and UoM_Wifi services across the university campus tonight, Tuesday 25th September, between 9:30pm and 10pm (21:30 to 22:00). This is to resolve an issue with older devices.
Please don't report issues relating to this outage on HORNET, this is planned work by IT Services. Apologies for any inconvenience.

Last day of main arrivals today, and we've still got a few keys to hand out. Down in the Grove Bar in Whitworth Park, for everyone in WP, Denmark Road and Horniman House:
- GP (doctors) registration until 4pm - it is essential EVERYONE registers with a doctor so that if you get ill you can get an appointment. It's free and I think they have sweets to give away :)
- Voter registration - all UK, EU and Commonwealth students should be registered to vote here for local, nationa...l and (until Brexit) European elections. We have Manchester City Council here also until 4pm collecting registration data, please come down and get yourselves registered so you can do your civic, democratic duty at election time! It's free, and they have chocolates to give away...

If you have not yet registered with a local GP (doctor) please come down to the Grove Bar by the key collection desks until 5pm today (Saturday), or 10am-5pm tomorrow and register with our local practice, the Robert Darbishire Practice. It is free to register and will ensure that you can make an appointment to see a doctor if you get ill.
Also in the bar we have representatives from TV Licensing - remember that if you watch or plan to watch BBC iPlayer then you must have a T...V licence, and the licence at your parents' house does not cover you here.
The bar is also showing live football this afternoon so please come on down and say hello.
All this is also open to residents of Denmark Road blocks A B C D and G, we're just a five minute walk round the corner on Oxford Road.
Finally, we are encouraging everyone to collect their student ID card, you can do this from the Atrium at University Place today and tomorrow 11-3

We've already had plenty of people make the journey to Whitworth Park and Denmark Road, after a quiet(ish) summer there's a lot more life around the residences this morning.
For those of you still to travel, if you are coming by car please be advised that you cannot drive on Oxford Road outside our halls between 6am and 9pm as this is a bus gate. Access to both residences is via Denmark Road, from the direction of Princess Street and Lloyd Street.
The first residence you wil...l get to is Denmark Road (use postcode M15 6GQ) then just past there are two entrances to Whitworth Park for Acomb, Burleigh, Derby, Dilworth, Garstang and Leamington Houses, and another for Aberdeen and Thorncliffe Houses. For both Whitworth Park entrances follow the postcode M13 9NL (only for driving directions!)
Key collection for Whitworth Park is from Grove House, so for anyone not driving who might be using (e.g.) Google maps to find their way please use the normal WP postcode M13 9WJ.
We look forward to welcoming more people arriving today, tomorrow and Sunday,

A very big welcome to those of you moving into Denmark Road from today, I hope you all get settled quickly in your new accommodation. Don't worry if you're not coming for a few days though, you won't miss out on anything and it may be that a lot of people won't arrive until next weekend.
Look out for your ResLife team in their green shirts/hoodies and say hi when you arrive :)
