Wonderful place recommended to us by a friend. We couldn't have asked for a more peaceful and idyllic setting. We will definitely stay again!

We recently returned after spending 3 nights with my fiancé and 2 with a couple we shared the cost with. We stayed in the Sycamore lodge and was stunned by the immaculately presented cabin and surrounding area.

The couple who we stayed with "dibbed" the master bedroom, complete with double bed and en-suite bathroom. Towels and Soap were provided as standard and the space was excellent considering the size of the lodge from viewing outside.

We stayed in the twin room and used the bathroom adjacent. Mattresses, in both rooms, were of exceptional standard. As parents of 2 young boys we can safely say we had 3 of the best nights sleep we'd had in months, if not years! Bedrooms had plenty of storage space with a large built-in wardrobe and a 3-draw bedside table with lamp in the twin which accommodated our essentials. The bathroom was decently sized, with a large bathtub and shower which ran excellently.

The living room had 2 2-seater sofa's and ample leg room to stretch out while watching a DVD on the wall mounted TV, surrounded by superb furnishings and of course the 'old-style' electric fire which gave the room a rustic feel. An oak coffee table finished off the living room, complete with cabin and local tourist information leaflets to help us to fully relax.

The kitchen was fantastic! Lovely and modern with top of the range appliances, all easy to use. The milk, tea, coffee and biscuits provided were an excellent touch. From corkscrew to colander - nearly every utensil under the sun was included which made for a perfect kitchen, whether to be used for short or long stays. A 4 seater oak dining table made for a pleasant dining area overlooking the decking and surrounding area.

The decking came complete with an ourdoor table and chairs, which because of the weather we didnt take full advantage of. We did make full use of the hot tub though, which lived up to all expectations!!! We were asked before using it to wait for Mel to give us some instructions, but we weren't waiting for long and before you know it we were sat chilling outside in the magnificent tub.

The lodge was ideally placed if you wanted to venture into York, as we did for some Christmas shopping. We advise to use the Park & Ride (Askham Bar) which is a 5/10 minute drive from the lodge and costs £2.70 for a return, avoiding the long traffic queues into the city.

The local pub (The White Swan) is literally a 3 minute walk from the lodges and serves some delicious food. Definitely worth visiting.

All-in-all our stay was absolutely superb. Everything was catered for and if we did need any help then the owners would have been more than happy to help. The fact we only saw them as we arrived and left goes to show how much of a fantastic stay we had.

Our only trouble now is saving to book for next time.... if only they offered a returning party discount ;)

Thank you sooo much!!!

The lodges are fantastic and very well equipped Rupert and Melanie are very friendly and welcoming noting is too much trouble for them... It is based on a working farm but you wouldn't know it. The fresh pint of milk and tea coffee and biscuits are a lovely touch. The family are very friendly but not in your face all the time. My self and my partner had a fantastic time and we will be back and I will recommend to anyone who asks

Really immaculate, nice and secluded and was made to feel really welcome. Our lodge was full of everything we could possibly need. Even a bottle of milk, tea and coffee included. Hot tub was nice and relaxing and view was great. Only come home on Friday and want to come back. Thank you Melaine and Rupert.

Lovely home away from home. Always clean and tidy. Been 4 times now and not once as it not been perfect. Love the hot tub. And comfortable bed. Our takeaway for the week is “spice 4 u”. And one of the guys here said to try a pub in bilbrough called “the 3 hares”. We only went for lunch but it was beautiful. Hope to try the dinner menu soon. Will be back to the lodges again. Thank you xx

Just returned from a weekend away here! We really enjoyed ourselves and the place is lovely!! The cabins are fantastic with everything we needed!! Highly recommend!! Will definitely return!

User

Just returned from a fabulous girls relaxation weekend, the cabins are the best I've ever stayed in very clean all amenities to hand, fresh milk as soon as we arrived late Friday night which was ideal. Fresh bedding & towels for us all, & the cabin was spotless. everyhing was explained how things worked in a very helpful booklet in our lodge. We would recommend the white Swann pub which was at the end of the farm which we attended for Sunday lunch the food was all home made & fresh, the staff are very obliging we even took a pack of cards to play after lunch with a few drinks which the staff had no problem with we did not feel rushed at all. I would highly recommend theses lodges & will be returning.

User

Just had a 3 night stay in the Oak lodge for my boyfriends birthday, had a fab time! Our stay was so relaxing and the hot tub was great! The lodge was immaculate!! Melanie and Rupert helped me also by letting me come through the day before our stay to drop off a surprise birthday cake. Melanie was very welcoming and told us everything we needed to know. The only slight issue we had, was that the bed squeaked like mad no matter how little you tried to move to get comfy! Other than that it was great and we will definitely be back
