The penultimate performance in the Elias String Quartets complete presentation of Beethoven’s String Quartets at Wigmore Hall brings to life the joyous and optimisitc String Quartet in A Op.18 No. 5, the varied yet subtle String Quartet in C Op. 59 No. 3 ‘Razumovsky’ and finally the visionary String Quartet in C sharp minor Op. 131. The five-starred reviewed series of live recordings continues to excite, with committed performance from the ensemble earning them high praise from audience and critics alike. The Elias String Quartet’s brilliant performance continues to bring a fresh energy and emotion to this exploration of the masterworks of Beethoven.

Director John Gilhooly felt compelled to invite Anita Lasker-Wallfisch to Wigmore Hall following her recent address to the Bundestag, to mark the 73rd anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz. For this event, Anita Lasker-Wallfisch – a survivor of Auschwitz and Bergen-Belsen – describes her life story and the importance of learning from one of history’s darkest chapters. She is joined on stage by her son, the acclaimed cellist Raphael Wallfisch and the pianist John York, for music by Bloch, Ravel and Korngold.

📺 LIVE STREAM EVENT 📺 In her address to the Bundestag, Anita Lasker-Wallfisch said: “Anti-Semitism is a virus which is two thousand years old and apparently incurable […] No other genocide is as comprehensively documented as the Holocaust. And yet there are still the deniers, people who claim that all the accounts are fabricated and that the Holocaust never happened […] There are no excuses and no explanations for what happened all those years ago. All that remains is hope: the hope that ultimately, one day, reason will prevail.” WATCH the LIVE STREAM here: https://bit.ly/2wBHxkP

What a happy time spent at Wigmore Hall on Saturday for a really great performance of 'Rumbled' - the building took my breath away, so grand, and then the friendly reception we all were treated to.

The performance itself was brilliant, the patience shown by the cast to an ever wandering audience, particularly when the King deftly extricated himself from the golden string the children had woven around his boots and later when he had to chase a youngster who had run off with the dungeon keys both brought laughter and respect from us all!

There was no rushing away at the end as we were treated to a personal audience with the cast and trio of fine musicians who were only to eager to introduce their instruments to us all.

It is a day I shall always remember and one I hope to repeat. Thank you!

We attended a wonderful recital given by Sophie Karthauser and Eugene Asti last night. Beautiful voice, impeccable tuning, language and line wonderfully partnered by Eugene Asti. We were transfixed by their artistry and interpretation. Particularly enjoyed the opening Schubert songs especially Nur wer die Sehnsucht Kennt and Wolf's Kennst du das Land and in the second half Faure's 3 songs. Could there be a duo more skilful and impressive than these two in the world at the moment? Only slight disappointment that the music was deployed at all times by Sophie. This hampered her ability to truly communicate with her audience.

To my first time in London, the soprano and tenor were so great. Powerful and vibrate sound, the wigmore hall is really a good performance scene for this kind of exhibition. Glad to take part of this experience. The price of back side chair is perfect to discover some classical music.

The centre of music universe as far as I am concerned. I treasure the time I spend there listening to the best performers in the world. Wonderful welcoming atmosphere, wonderful audiences too. Thank you, Wigmore Hall!

Thank you, Wigmore Hall, and the Royal Society of Musicians for bringing together the Sacconi Quartet, Daniel Hope and Freddy Kempf, a true musical event and a memorable one.

One of the most beautiful and intimate chamber concert venues in the world!

Excellent acoustics, one of the best venues in London to listen to Classical music, attracting top artists from around the world . The resident band, The Nash Ensemble, as ever, put on a superb series of concerts (this season exploring both Viennese "Schools", and I can't wait for next year's French Season).

One down side, no one appears able to understand how to work the terminal on their desk selling programmes, sweets and concert CDs (especially for electronic card payments), this has been an issue for over a year.

A delightful first for me made all the better by attending an excellent concert given by the up and coming Amatis piano trio who won the prestigious Parkhouse Award in 2015.

Wonderful venue with exceedingly good acoustics. (One very small concern is that the leg room is very tight - I'm familiar with a number of theatres, concert halls and opera houses which tend to cater better for today's taller people).

I'll certainly be back - in particular on 8th April 2017 for the 2017 Parkhouse Award Finals!
