Wild Thyme Wholefoods Portsmouth is a shop /worker co-operative that sells the widest range of natural & organic food in Portsmouth, specialising in vegetarian and vegan wholefoods, organic, local and fair trade products.

Wild Thyme is a wholefood shop with a takeaway and juice bar, run by a worker co-operative, at 102 Palmerston Road, Southsea, PO5 3PT.
As well as a massive range of natural and organic food, our take away food counter is supplied by our on site kitchen. We have our own packing operation, meaning we can keep prices down and make sure our food is top quality. Sourcing from local suppliers is a priority for us.
Our ethical standards are at the heart of what we do - we are committed to working towards a sustainable and ethical future which promotes some alternative ways of living to those currently offered by supermarket chains and other large corporations. We aim to create a positive impact on Portsmouth as well as contributing to the creation of a better world through offering healthy vegan wholefoods and other products. We offer a broad range of gluten-free, sugar-free, raw and specialist diet foods. We sell a large range of organic foods, as well as ensuring that none of our products contain GMO's, hydrogenated fats, artificial additives, MSG or artificial sweeteners such as aspartame. Throughout our design and development of the business as a whole we will make decisions strongly influenced by their environmental impact, and aim to use natural materials and keep our carbon footprint as low as possible. We will keep our packaging to a minimum, use biodegradable packaging for our own brand products and provide opportunities for refills (for example of cleaning products). In addition to food, we offer household and toiletry products which are less harmful to health or the environment and are not tested on animals. We will also promote building strong local communities by supporting local arts, environmental, community and social justice events and projects.
We are a not-for-profit worker co-operative, where every member of the business has an equal say and responsibility in the running of the business and make our decisions by consensus. We value our responsibility as workers to have control over our own workplace and conditions, with respect for our co-workers, as well as to the quality of the service and products which we provide for our customers. We also extend these principles to all others who we have a business relationship with, such as suppliers and producers.

Zero Carbon, Zero Waste Delivery Service
We are looking at creating a Wild Thyme shopping website, listing all our products, so that you could order online for local delivery.
We would deliver using an electric cargo bike (recharged using electricity produced from renewable sources).
... The products would include our loose, unpackaged goods, which would come in returnable containers.
To help us develop this in a way that works for you, we have produced a customer survey, and it would be a great help if you could complete one. It only takes a couple of minutes, and there's a link below. We'll also have some paper copies in the shop

Here at Wild Thyme we are in the throes of arranging a Southsea Sustainability Fair for May this year, exact date and venue are just being confirmed but we will have space for stalls and small workshops. Needless to say we are super excited!

Between now and 4:30 pm you can come grab a brew and chat with Fran; it’s all in aid of Portsmouth Samaritans, you can donate in the shop or buy a hot drink as all proceeds from hot drinks will also go to Samaritans. No one needs to be alone, call 116 123 anytime you need to talk!
Samaritans have a national campaign called Brew Monday to raise awareness and encourage connection between us all, and particularly those who may be feeling extra isolated or down, in what can be a particularly miserable month for many people. This coming Monday Wild Thyme are hosting a Brew Monday afternoon so come and have a brew and a chat! Our member Fran will be here having a cuppa and a chat with whoever drops in between 2-4.30pm. All the money from hot drinks bought during the afternoon will be donated to the local Portsmouth branch of Samaritans. Look forward to seeing you 😊
