Ultrasound Scanning
Ultrasound is very high frequency sound waves, well above the perception of the human ear so your baby will not be aware of the scan in any way. 3D and 4D ultrasound uses exactly the same technology as hospital 2D ultrasound scanning.
2D ultrasound gives imaging in 2 dimensions and is used in diagnostic examinations.
We are privileged to be able to offer you and your family an amazing and realistic first look at your baby with a unique Window to the Womb 3D /4D Ultrasound Baby Scan.
Whilst just as safe as the traditional 2D scan that you will have at your hospital, a 3D /4D /HD ultrasound scan can help you get up close and personal with your unborn baby in a way that you never thought possible thanks to the combination of our years of experience, our trained team and our amazing equipment. From a yawn to a stretch, your 2D /3D /4D /HD ultrasound session can give you a realistic first introduction to your baby in their protected world!
3D ultrasound gives images in 3-dimensions, in other words still pictures
4D ultrasound gives imaging in the fourth dimension, giving us real-time movement of your baby in the womb.
4D ULTRASOUND FACT SHEET
4D technology uses sound waves that are out of the range of human hearing so your baby will not be aware of the scan taking place. For good clear imaging we need a pool of amniotic fluid around babies face. To get the very best 4D images it’s important that your baby is in a face upward position However the images of your baby’s face will be affected by anything that blocks or reduces the sound waves or causes a shadow, the umbilical cord, baby’s hands and feet.
Babies position also plays a large part in the clarity of the images. If baby is cuddled in to the wall of the womb or placenta your imaging will be hazy. We can try to encourage movement by asking you to roll onto your side, sometimes taking a walk around is also needed. Our policy is to try our best for you on the day, unfortunately this means we may over run on our scan times. Please be patient every client is very important to us.
Our clinic offers pregnancy scans at all gestastions from 6 - 40 weeks of pregnancy and all our sonographers are fully trained in clinical & diagnostic ultrasound. All our scans are started with a well-being check of baby and if they feel their could be a problem with baby we will explain as fully as we are able and speak to your midwife with your permission.

Our Scanning Machines
Our ultrasound scanner is basically a very powerful computer. It’s processor interprets the reflected high frequency sound waves into 3D pictures and adds the fourth-dimension to give us real time moving images. HD is High Definition.
Safety
We take the safety of you and your baby very seriously and have adopted the A. L. A. R. A (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) protocol when scanning. In simple terms this means that we have our scanners set at the lowest levels that will allow us to get great images for you. We also follow BMUS (British Medical Ultrasound Society) guidelines for non-diagnostic, bonding scans, which means we have lowered the output levels on our machines and do not scan before 16 weeks.

We had our early gender scan on Saturday and I can’t thank Window to the Womb enough. Our little baby didn’t want to show us if it was a he or she so they tried multiple times having to send me on walks. We didn’t want to know the gender straight away as we were doing a reveal the next day so had the sex written in a sealed envelope. The staff were absolutely amazing and ever so friendly. Made the experience so much more relaxing. So happy to say we have a little girl on the way. Absolutely over the moon!
We had a gender scan 2 weeks ago and it was fantastic, everybody was so nice and we were made to feel very welcome. We purchased a heart beat bear with our baby girls heart beat recorded on it. We were half hour early with travelling from Carlisle but were able to be seen then which I really appreciated as we had a toddler with us. Lots of fab scan photos and a very clear sneak peak at of 4D. Thanks again everyone at window to the womb xx
We had a 4d and wellbeing scan yesterday, as soon as we walked in we were greeted and automatically felt at ease. We went through for our scan with one of the ladies (who I can't remember the name of but she was brilliant! Brown/blonde curly hair). The lady who did our scan was so patient as little man didn't want to show his face and was hiding, I felt so bad with him not being visable and taking their time up but both of them made us feel comfortable and gave me a few hints to get him to move. The lady doing our scan went through everything with us and showed us what things were and also answered any questions we had.
It was well worth the money and their people skills are amazing!

We got the born to be a star 4d scan package and got amazing photos and videos of our baby sucking her thumb and blinking. Even though she was in an awkward position to start off with, the staff let us walk around abit and then come back for a better view. They tried hard to get us the best photos of our girl. We had amazing time and the staff were very nice. Definitely recommend.
Thank you for such a lovely experience! We loved seeing our princess �� we had the 4d born to be a star package it was fantastic and the photos are great. Firstly she was squashed up against the placenta so we thought we'd not get any at all, but thankfully you were all so patient and let me have a walk and lots of sugar and she finally showed us her beautiful little face �
Had my 4D scan today, was such an amazing experience! Lovely to see your baby up close and in so much detail � All the staff were really lovely and helpful with any queries. The man that done my scan was great too! He couldn’t get brilliant pics first time so was sent away to have a sugary snack and a retry. Also got an adorable heartbeat bear, most precious keepsake ever � Would DEFO recommend!! Thank you all so much xxx
Had a gender scan here last night, we didn't find out straight away as we wanted to do a reveal with the family so purchased one of the reveal balloons. The room where the scan took place was so relaxing and it was great that we could have upto 10 people there. We popped the ballon when we got home and found out we are having a little princess � we are beyond exited!! Thank you for the amazing experience �
Greeted by a very pleasant receptionist who made us all feel welcome and relaxed. I was there with my pregnant daughter and her partner and 20 month old daughter. From entering the building to leaving after the scan, we were treated with respect, made welcome, and every stage explained in detail. It was a very exciting experience, meeting our unborn grandson, and I would highly recommend anyone to do it. Thank you wttw. for your professional, but laid back approach. Keep up the good work. Xx
Fantastic experience this morning seeing our baby boy in 4D. Felt really welcome from the moment we arrived and the scan room was so relaxed and comfortable for my family.
Unfortunately our baby boy wasn’t feeling like posing today and kept pushing his face into the placenta, so we had 20 mins to have a walk and come back to see if he had moved. The sonographer took her time, was really understanding and tried many tricks to get him to move. When we returned from our walk he was really interested in the umbilical cord so we couldn’t see his face!
We were offered a rescan in a couple of weeks to come back and receive better photos of our baby boy. Which I think is absolutely great and so understanding of the fact our baby didn’t co-operate!
Great experience overall, got some images from today and can’t wait for our rescan in a couple of weeks time! ��
