Ultrasound Scanning
Ultrasound is very high frequency sound waves, well above the perception of the human ear so your baby will not be aware of the scan in any way. 3D and 4D ultrasound uses exactly the same technology as hospital 2D ultrasound scanning.
2D ultrasound gives imaging in 2 dimensions and is used in diagnostic examinations.
We are privileged to be able to offer you and your family an amazing and realistic first look at your baby with a unique Window to the Womb 3D /4D Ultrasound Baby Scan.
Whilst just as safe as the traditional 2D scan that you will have at your hospital, a 3D /4D /HD ultrasound scan can help you get up close and personal with your unborn baby in a way that you never thought possible thanks to the combination of our years of experience, our trained team and our amazing equipment. From a yawn to a stretch, your 2D /3D /4D /HD ultrasound session can give you a realistic first introduction to your baby in their protected world!
3D ultrasound gives images in 3-dimensions, in other words still pictures
4D ultrasound gives imaging in the fourth dimension, giving us real-time movement of your baby in the womb.
4D ULTRASOUND FACT SHEET
4D technology uses sound waves that are out of the range of human hearing so your baby will not be aware of the scan taking place. For good clear imaging we need a pool of amniotic fluid around babies face. To get the very best 4D images it’s important that your baby is in a face upward position However the images of your baby’s face will be affected by anything that blocks or reduces the sound waves or causes a shadow, the umbilical cord, baby’s hands and feet.
Babies position also plays a large part in the clarity of the images. If baby is cuddled in to the wall of the womb or placenta your imaging will be hazy. We can try to encourage movement by asking you to roll onto your side, sometimes taking a walk around is also needed. Our policy is to try our best for you on the day, unfortunately this means we may over run on our scan times. Please be patient every client is very important to us.
Our clinic offers pregnancy scans at all gestastions from 6 - 40 weeks of pregnancy and all our sonographers are fully trained in clinical & diagnostic ultrasound. All our scans are started with a well-being check of baby and if they feel their could be a problem with baby we will explain as fully as we are able and speak to your midwife with your permission.

Our Scanning Machines
Our ultrasound scanner is basically a very powerful computer. It’s processor interprets the reflected high frequency sound waves into 3D pictures and adds the fourth-dimension to give us real time moving images. HD is High Definition.
Safety
We take the safety of you and your baby very seriously and have adopted the A. L. A. R. A (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) protocol when scanning. In simple terms this means that we have our scanners set at the lowest levels that will allow us to get great images for you. We also follow BMUS (British Medical Ultrasound Society) guidelines for non-diagnostic, bonding scans, which means we have lowered the output levels on our machines and do not scan before 16 weeks.

We’ve had an early scan, gender scan and the 4D scan... all scans have been made so lovely, the staff are all so friendly and make all your scans so memorable, personal and special.
We had the most amazing experience yesterday at our 16 week wellbeing and gender scan. The staff were all so friendly, the room was peaceful and clean with background music, low lights and comfy seating for family. We love how involved the dad was, especially that his name is added to the scan photo! The whole experience including our sneak peak in 4d was incredible and something we'll never forget. Thanks for making us feel so welcome. We will definitely be booking for a later scan to see our boy again �
We had a Well-being + 4D Scan(V.I.B.) at 31 Weeks. The facilities and the staff at Window to the Womb Southampton were outstanding. It was a real comfort to see our baby was healthy and doing well in that long period between 20 week scan and the big day.
We Went to the Southampton clinic on the 30th June for our gender n health being what amazing experience we eithen got a few sneck peck in 4d :) the staff are really lovely and make you feel at home we ended up buying teddy with baby's heartbeat in to do a gender reveal and we got another beautiful boy thanks so much window to the womb x
Today my husband and I had our gender and wellbeing scan with my parents. It was a truly unforgettable experience. Hearing our babys heart beat for the first time was amazing. And not to mention watching my husband jump for joy at finding out we are team pink. Thank you so much to all the wonderful staff for making this such a special experience.

My husband and I had the 4D Package-photos, keyrings and video! Lovely studio, really warm, kind and welcoming staff throughout. Baby not cooperating on first attempt so gave us time to go for a walk (and some chocolate) to get better images which worked! Got some really clear, beautiful images! Really lovely experience and couldn’t recommend enough. � �

I went to Windows to the womb the Saturday that's just gone for the important package with my first successful pregnancy I was really happy how much I was able to see and the staff there was welcoming and polite I would definitely recommend this place and I will definitely come back if I have another 1 only 11 weeks to go and then I finally get to see my boy that I saw on there screen
I had my scan yesterday 24+4 weeks and I am expecting twin girls and the photos where lovely considering they was not co-operating. The staff where absolutely fantastic and amazing and I would highly recommend anyone going here if you want to see your baby or babies before they are here! I come to window to the womb for my 16 week gender scan and loved it so much that I booked another for yesterday when I was 25+1. The staff are so lovely and were so patient with me, they ensured they helped get the best angles of my little girl. The temptation to book another was strong but I’m going to wait to meet her now. My pictures come out so so clear and I couldn’t be happier with the video I received �
