Although Bourgogne aligoté is traditionally associated with drinking Kir, the local Bourgogne specialty of white wine mixed with crème de cassis blackcurrant liqueur, it has its own qualities and deserves to be enjoyed in its own right. It is a perfect match for grilled fish, and its liveliness and citrus notes stand up well to the saltiness of oysters and strong goat cheese. Bourgogne aligoté is one of the rare wines that does not overpower salads, tabouleh or steamed vegetables. It is also a worthy companion to traditional local creations such as gougères pastries, snails with garlic butter and jambon persillé, a terrine of cold ham in parsley aspic.

I've just had the queen on the blower trying to reserve my entire stock of Picpoul Frisante before you lot have even had a chance to taste it! I said to her... listen missy....all this fame has gone to your head....not only am I not going to do that to my loyal customers just because your hat is lovely and sparkly....I'm gonna put it on tasting today IMMEDIATELY to teach you a lesson.
So today's wine you can come in and taste for FREEEEE is Cote Mas Picpoul Frisante. A beaut...ifully light sparkling white made from the picpoul grape. I think it has a delicate lemon citrus about it. The fizz is a gentle pinprick affair. It aaaaalmost has a saline quality to it. It's refreshing as all hell and you simply MUST come and get your chops around it....before her Majesty gets in there.
