Wing Hall Caravan & Camping

Poor. Expensive for touring vans with old fashioned and poorly maintained facilities. The lovely location simply does not make up for the weaknesses. Needs a focus, a new business plan and ....investment.

Don't know why people are complaining about the showers. They were clean and had good water pressure. I never had to wait to use one, even though the site was very busy. Don't let those reviews put you off, this is a really good campsite.

I stayed on a very busy weekend but it didn't feel crowded and it wasn't noisy. Very good facilities and farm shop. And best of all - very cute and friendly cats! Unfortunatley I didn't see many hens, but I was in a different field. Will definitley stay here again.

Loverly setting always made welcome with great farm shop and views. Toilets a bit basic but ok but not for you if you are looking for really good toilet facilities

The showers do the job, no frills but you have gone camping right?

The facilities were a little dated but the setting was lovely and the staff we met we're very pleasant. Some pitches were not well numbered or were of very bizarre sizes; one could barely fit a 4 man tent on it. Overall we had a pleasant weekend but the venue didn't scream amazing.

I think that this is 100% THE BEST caravan or camping place that I have EVER been to! Plenty of things for you and your family to see, if you like chickens then this is the place for you but if you don't, they won't bother you anyway! (unless you have food...) 😆

And, it's all dog friendly! So if you have a dog, GREAT! and if not, they're not aloud of lead anyway so they won't bother you... ☺

There is a little farm shop, bike hire(more space in the car!), AND a gorgeous restaurant/café area that is open all day with indoor or outdoor seating!

I would DEFINITELY recommend this place...

Recommended in Cool Camping. A warm welcome, nice shop and grounds. The loos and showers are a basic, but adequate. The showers were unfortunately a bit mouldy. Fabulous views and very friendly chickens.

Great place to camp, children loved the chickens and lots of room to play football. Checked in nice and quick with an easy to read map. Don't listen to the negative bathroom comments, toilets have been revamped and showers in the main building were powerful and really warm.

Wing Hall is a wonderful, happy place to camp. The location is perfect for days out in the stunning surrounding countryside, beautiful local villages and towns. Not to mention Rutland water and all that has to offer, which is very close-by.
Wing Hall itself is simply idyllic. It's run by friendly, warm and helpful staff like the ever present Robin, Gemma the talented chef in the kitchen, Jayde & Alma serving happy punters in the brilliant little Café, to mention but a few; They treat people as friends rather than customers, despite working hard to ensure your stay is a happy one. Make the effort to engage them, and you can quickly find new friends.
I've camped at Wing on several occasions, and every time is better than the last.
The facilities are constantly improving, the shop and café are welcoming, practical, very well stocked and modestly priced. The food and drink in both (which is seemingly mostly locally sourced) is of excellent quality, and lovingly prepared.
The bathrooms and washing facilities are generous, bright, cleaned regularly, easy to use and seemingly ever improving thanks to the hard working Steve. Hot water is available 24/7 for showering and there's even covered areas for pot cleaning, or hand washing.
Best of all though, and the two things that give me the most pleasure...The views (they have to be seen, really), and the animals. Rescued chickens roam freely in the grounds. They're tame, friendly and love to be hand-fed by the visitors. There are also several cats that enjoy a fuss too! They co-exist quite happily with their winged friends, and visitor's pets...for animal lovers like me, it's a joy! There's always a furry companion to pet if that's your thing, as well as the local wild-life...Particularly of interest to Ornithologists.
I can't praise Wing Hall and it's dedicated staff enough, they serve their guests and the local community so very well with their facilities, and hospitality.
I must confess to being biased, having only had enjoyable experiences there, and it's my default getaway from the rigours of hectic life. But, I'd still say ignore the odd negative, nit-picking review. Don't expect room service, or have other unrealistic expectations of perfection... It's camping after all! :-) Some people, sadly, just enjoy moaning for the sake of it... I have no idea where they stayed, but it isn't where I have. Wing Hall is special.
