Withington Fire Station

Our firefighters have been dealing with the incident at The Christie since yesterday morning along with colleagues from across the County.
We will remain on site for as long as required to assist with the salvage operation.

Green watch have been involved in Dementia Friends training, looking at how best to support people with forms of dementia at incidents we attend, which can be particularly traumatic for them.

At 2.21am, crews from Withington, Moss Side, Gorton and Whitehill were mobilised to a serious house fire on Parsonage Road, Withington.
Fire service and police are expected to remain at the scene for several hours, with road closures currently in place.
Investigations are now under way to establish the cause.

Crews from Withington, Moss Side and Stockport have just dealt with a fire in a cafe on School Lane, Didsbury.
Four firefighters in breathing apparatus used hose reels to extinguish the fire which was caused by an oven which had been left on. The heat ignited some nearby cardboard which spread to wooden units and smokelogged the whole unit.
Luckily, a passerby called the fire in before it spread too far.

Green watch is currently in attendance at an incident on Barlow Moor Road. The occupant had been drying clothing in front of the fire but it ignited. He threw the items out of the window but some wrapped around the handle, heavily smoke logging his flat.
The building has been ventilated and he is currently receiving treatment for smoke inhalation from our colleagues at North West Ambulance Service as a precaution.

Crews from Withington and Cheadle, as well as a specialist technical response team from Leigh just rescued a construction worker who fell while working on-site in Northenden.
Firefighters set up a rope system to lower the casually to the ground floor, and assisted North West Ambulance Service with treatment.
The worker suffered a suspected fractured and and was taken to hospital for treatment.

Crews from Withington and Stockport attended an overturned car on the access sliproad to the M60 from the Princess Parkway.
The driver and passengers were able to get out of the car unaided and treated by North West Ambulance Service.
Police have closed the road to allow recovery to remove the vehicle - this will be the situation for the next hour or so.
