Rehearsals for our forthcoming production of "Singin' in the Rain" are in full swing, umbrellas an' all, and we're getting rather excited as show week is now only 6 weeks away!

What an incredible week Wodys have had performing "Back to the 80s" at the Swan Theatre! Congratulations to all of the youngsters on stage, you were brilliant and performed with an energy and enthusiasm that delighted audiences. Thanks also though to the fantastic production team and the army of volunteers backstage, front of house and chaperoning in so many unseen ways, but all of whom deserve our appreciation. How exciting to see our young performers on stage - well done everyone!!

Members of WODS' cast of "Singin' in the Rain" took to the streets of Worcester over the weekend to take part in Worcester Carnival 2019 ... and they were quite literally singing in the rain too!! The distinctive band of umbrella-clad musical theatre performers entertained the crowds singing and dancing along the route with their umbrellas held high to promote our forthcoming show.

Following Worcester Operatic & Dramatic Society's (WODS) recent highly acclaimed production of "Oklahoma!" at Worcester's Swan Theatre, the Society was recently pleased to present a donation of £850 to Good Soil Worcester - a local charity that was chosen to support with the proceeds from the interval raffle during the week of performances. Good Soil is a charity for people struggling with life for many reasons such as homelessness, addiction, crime and mental health issues, ...offering hoping and transformation in their lives through therapeutic land-based projects, all based at Top Barn Farm. Activities range from land-based horticulture and stock care, to rural crafts, environmental care, landscaping, construction and woodwork. Alison and Lydia from Good Soil went along to WODS' rehearsal room to receive the donation from the cast of WODS' next production - "Singin' in the Rain" - which will take to the Swan Theatre stage from 15th - 19th October 2019. We will soon be starting audition workshops for our next production - "Singin' in the Rain" - to be staged in October 2019. If you'd like to come along and join us and consider auditioning you'd be most welcome. We meet at St. Mary's Hall, Northfield Street, Worcester, WR1 1NS.
Tue 23rd April from 7.30pm - First get-together and singing only Wed 24th April from 7.30pm - Singing and dance audition prep Tue April 30th April from 7.30pm - Singing and dance audition prep... Wed 1st May - Auditions Evening (times TBC)

Worcester Sing & Social - 29 April 2019 - postponed
Due to St Mary's Hall no longer being available on this night due the WODS AGM now moving to this date, the planned Sing & Social is postponed. As the May Sing & Social falls on 27 May which is a Bank Holiday we are looking for another date and hopefully bring the May date forward.

We have much to be proud of today ... WODS' production of "Oklahoma!" drew to a close yesterday after delighting audiences all week at the Swan Theatre - what an incredible reception the show had, and we thank everyone who was involved in staging this production, and everyone who came to see it. NODA's National President, Jacquie Stedman, attended the final performance and said "I've seen many productions of "Oklahoma!" in my time, but this was simply the best one I've seen. ...#wods #oklahoma However we are also immensely proud that our youth section, WODYS, has today been awarded Best Youth Musical at our regional NODA Awards Ceremony for their 2018 production of "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers". Well done to all the youngsters involved with the show, and to all those volunteers who help to run WODYS and brought this magnificent show to the stage last year. #wodys
