Another great Open Meeting last night when artist Michael Peachy gave us a most unusual, quirky and funny presentation.
Thank you so much to everyone who attended, helping us raise £305 for our charity of the year, The Walled Garden of Wollaton. Here is a picture of Michael with the picture he created, helped by some willing and not so willing volunteers. Think that shirt may need a boil wash!

Another great evening out tonight when 20 members attended Calendar Girls - The Musical at the Theatre Royal, Nottingham. The show was brilliant, so sad in parts but also very funny too. Thank you to the fabulous cast for the most enjoyable evening. I think we need considerably bigger buns!

Great Wollaton WI day out on Saturday when 46 members and friends attended The Woburn Flower Show. We did so well for the weather as it was the best day for weeks with the sun shining all day. Many thanks to our coach driver Ian of Travel by Rhodes for his professionalism and good humour- aka corny jokes! Here are some of our members looking decidedly small - we need to stand them in some fertilizer!

Fantastic 1960's party on Wednesday to celebrate our 29th birthday. We turned the Community Centre into Wollaton Woodstock. Some brilliant outfits ladies and as usual lovely food and great company. Many thanks also to Clive Rudd our superb 1960's singer.

Thank you to everyone who attended our Open meeting with Derbyshire NGS County Organiser, Peter Gardner, who was a most interesting and humorous speaker. We raised £169 for our charity. The National Garden Scheme was set up in 1927 by the Queen's Nursing Institute, to raise funds for District Nurses, 20years before the formation of the NHS. In that first year 609 private gardens opened their gates to the public, and in doing so ushered in something of a social revolution. Th...e gardens all charged one shilling admission and raised some £8000. Today more then 3600 gardens open annually and raise more than £3.5 million. The commitment to nursing and caring charities continues and in 90 years they have donated £55 million to help those in need. Peter's garden at Tilford House, Hognaston, Ashbourne, DE6 1PW will be open on Sunday 26th May, 1pm to 5pm. Admission £4, children free. Home made teas available. Checkout other Open Gardens at www.ngs.org.uk/find a garden.

Great night at WI last Wednesday when Chris Biddulph demonstrated how to make a relatively simple but elegant floral arrangement using minimum flowers and foliage. Thank you Chris.
