The life of this page is almost done. If there is any coverage in the Express and Star of the Hungarians in Wolverhampton I will post it here, but other than that it simply remains to record my thanks.
The Wolverhampton Under17s have had a great opportunity to travel, to experience Hungary, it’s culture and some fantastic hospitality. I hope the Hungary team has felt the same about their return visit here. There has been some great rugby played. Our lads can look back on play...ing a national side, a year older than them, and winning - twice.
There has been a huge amount of hard work put in by many to make this possible. The coaching staff and parents at Wolverhampton, Sophie Ison and Rob Annable, The Hungarian RFU, it’s officials and it’s coaches, Andras Toth, Esztergom and Honfoglalok Rugby Clubs, The British Ambassador to Hungary, The Deputy Mayor of Wolverhampton, Staffordshire RFU, our generous sponsors. And I would like to say a personal thank you to Kate Bradshaw, our link at the embassy in Budapest who was the genesis for the whole of this wonderful adventure. She is seen here in the garden of the Ambassador’s Residence in Budapest with her nephew, and current Wolverhampton player, Charlie. Thanks Kate, and thank you all. It’s been a blast!

What a great night at Wolverhampton Rugby Club. It has been an honour to host Hungary National Under 18s. The rugby has been great to watch and the after-match social activities and presentations have been brilliant. Many thanks to the army of volunteers who have made this possible. We could not have functioned without your wonderful assistance.

A pulsating match saw Wolverhampton Under 17s run out winners over Hungary Under 18s by just one score - 38-29. Well played everyone - a great game to watch

Its match day! Wolverhampton Under 17s play Hungary National Under 18s tonight at Castlecroft- kick off 7 pm. Come on down for a top night of good rugby and great company

A great night tonight at Castlecroft as Dudley Kingswinford took the honours in an exciting, high-scoring game against Hungary. Well done to both sides for a competitive game played in a great spirit.

The Hungary National Under 18 squad has arrived in Wolverhampton and all the lads have settled in at their hotel before heading off into town for an all you can eat buffet. We extend a massive welcome to them all! They play their first game tomorrow against Dudley Kingswinford at Castlecroft before then playing Wolverhampton Under 17s on Friday, also at Castlecroft. Both matches kick off at 7 pm. Come on down for some good rugby and a great night out!

Hungary Under 18s arrive one month today, and we are looking forward to welcoming them to Castlecroft. They play Dudley Kingswinford at Castlecroft on 21st March and then Wolverhampton on 23rd March, both evening kick offs. Come on down to watch and enjoy a great evening of rugby and hospitality!

Hungary Under 18s arrive in Wolverhampton in less than two months, and the excitement is mounting!
However, so are the costs, and it is necessary for us to do a little fundraising. To that end we are going to hold a raffle, and are looking for prizes. Does anyone have anything that they can donate? Or do you have contacts with any local shops or businesses who might like to provide us with a raffle prize?
As part of the raffle we are putting together two hampers - one “chocol...ate” and one “toiletries”. If you are unable to contribute in any other way, might I ask that you donate any small item for one or both of these hampers? Unwanted Christmas presents (boxes of “smellies”) or even a bar or small chocolate item? If everyone donates one item we will end up with two fantastic hampers.
Sophie Ison will be collecting items at the club Tuesday evening at training, or Sunday at our next match, or alternatively put a comment on this post and we can arrange to collect whatever item you are donating.
We were royally looked after by the Hungarians in Hungary, and really want to be able to return the hospitality - any donation will be appreciated. Thanks!

Update on the visit of Hungary National Under 18s. They arrive on Tuesday, 20th March and leave on Saturday 24th. They will play Dudley Kingswinford on 21st and us on 23rd. Both evening games.

Great news! We can now confirm that the Hungarian National Under 18 side will travel to England between 22nd and 25th March 2018 to play a return fixture against us - and hopefully one further fixture against another local side.
We would want to make this a special occasion at Wolverhampton Rugby Club, with a great welcome for our Hungarian friends, and with as many as possible from the local community having a chance to come down and enjoy the occasion.
Put it in your diaries!
