We have never been disappointed whenever we visit. We have taken several different people with us and all have found the food and service very good. Highly recommend

Took our dad for Sunday lunch today for his 80th birthday , food was lovely and staff friendly and helpful. Plenty of vegetation options even for an awkward veggie teenage daughter. Thank you very much

Our first visit to the Wooden Fender and we know it will be the first of many! We had breakfast here, my husband had a full English & I had the Full Fender sandwich. Both dishes were excellent, our eyes were bigger than our stomachs although we did our best to finish our breakfast. I liked the look of the lunch / dinner specials on the boards so we will return soon. Great food, lovely people & very good value.

Never fails to impress when we've been. Lovely pub, friendly and helpful staff, delicious food and nice beer garden with space for the kids aswell as their veg patch that they use for meals to have a look at. 5/5 for me and the family always a nice experience coming here! Jamaican chicken curry or jerk chicken salad wowza top notch!!

My friend and I visited for lunch yesterday, wow, what a selection of meals, the staff were welcoming and attentive at all times, so friendly. Met the owner and what a delightful man. Our meal was superb. Could not fault any of it. Wanting to compliment the chef by offering a drink, he came out to see us. This pub excels in food, presentation of meals, friendliness towards customers. Shall definitely visit again.

Me and my family had booked a table for christmas dinner on christmas day. We were greeted we big smiles by staff and shown to are table .Bubbly was promptly dispatched lol . All the food was so nice i had pork belly which was spot on . I had the roast beef with all the trimmings which was added with no extra cost. All staff couldnt of done more for us to make the day comfortable and stress free . We left completely stuffed after tea choclates Christmas pudding and mince pies . Well done wooden fender We had a great day ���

I just had the best steak ever in my life. And I am very fussy with my medium rare. The 3 courses came at the right time, not to long and not to quick. Every course was outstanding. Highly reccomend.

Had the homemade scotch egg to start followed by homemade large steak and kidney pudding and sticky toffee pud for desert. It was all first class and really yummy and not expensive. When ever we are in Colchester we book a table here as we know it will be good food.

Food was perfect, staff were great, cannot recommend The Wooden Fender enough. I ordered Spicy Squid Salad followed by strawberry Eton mess and it was fantastic! Thankyou

Fabulous, tasty food. Attentive but not intrusive staff, who were also extremely friendly who had me in tears of laughter at one point. Was my first visit this evening, but will most definitely return again. Thank you for a lovely evening which was made by the awesome staff.

Excellent we are a difficult family to cater for as we have two Vegan,s one vegetarian an two meat eaters lol,so it was lovely to see a good selection of menu,s to suit their needs, will definitely come again and would recommend to friends and Family,staff were excellent aswell many thanks again x

Came last evening and brought friends from the West Country. It was the first time they had been and very very impressed with the food. As always it was good food, good atmosphere and very friendly staff.
