**We need your help!**
Due to a last minute cancellation, we're looking for some entertainment for our Patients' Christmas Party taking place on Thursday 6th December in our Hospice Cafe. We would ideally like some musical entertainment in the form of a singer / choir / band, however, would be open to offers!
If you know of someone who would be suitable that can spare an hour of their time from 1.45pm on Thursday 6th December, please contact us! Either DM us your details or ...email kate.leah@aintree.nhs.uk.
As ever, we're extremely grateful for any support you can give to us and our patients!

We were extremely excited to see our large Christmas Tree delivered and installed earlier this week by Rainfords, ready for our Light up a Life service taking place this Sunday!
During this service, which starts at 4pm at Woodlands Hospice, we will be switching on the Christmas Lights in honour of all those who've received a dedication throughout the Light up a Life Appeal. There will also be a service on Monday evening from 7pm at St Andrew's Church, Maghull. (Please note, ...due to limited capacity, the service at St Andrew's requires tickets for entry.)
You can dedicate a light on one of our Christmas Trees (including our Virtual Christmas Tree) until Monday 31st December. If you would like to take part in our appeal and dedicate a light in memory of a loved one or would like more information on either of our services, please visit: https://www.woodlandshospice.org/lightupa life or contact Carole Riley on 0151 529 4143.

Thank you to Liz Bentley for the donation of a beautiful 'Woodlands' inspired sponge cake! Liz, who teaches Cake Decorating, created this tasty baked treat with us in mind in one of her classes and donated it to us free of charge in order to collect donations! What a lovely thought ūüíöūüćį

We hosted our annual 'Strictly for Woodlands' Event on Saturday 24th November 2018. It was an evening full of dance, fun and sparkle all in support of Woodlands Hospice and our services.
A huge thank you to all of the dancers who took on the challenge of learning a routine in just 10 lessons to entertain a crown of 350+ people, and to all who helped make the evening a success - from Hazel at Dance Unlimited and all of our Pro Dancers, to the venue (The fantastic, Titanic Hote...l), to all of the people behind the scenes working hard to make the evening as entertaining as possible. We'd also like to say a huge thank you to all who attended and supported our dancers on the night. By attending our events, taking part in the voting and raffles and various other fundraising activities throughout the night, you are helping us to continue providing quality care for our patients and their families!
And of course - congratulations to our winners!! A full story on the evening's activities will follow, but for now - the photos certainly highlight what a fantastic evening was had by all!

Light up a Life this Christmas and celebrate the life of someone you love by dedicating a light to them on one of our Hospice Christmas Trees. In doing so, you will also help Woodlands Hospice to continue supporting their patients and families at a time they need it most. Families such as Alison‚Äôs, who experienced the care of Woodlands Hospice last year when her Uncle, Father Tom Leigh, became a patient: ‚ÄúThere are so many things to thank the Hospice for and the dedication o...f the caring staff which makes a difficult time so much easier for families such as ours. We will be eternally grateful to Woodlands in memory of my Uncle. It is because of this that we want to do whatever we can to help the Hospice starting with supporting this year‚Äôs Light up a Life appeal.‚ÄĚ You can dedicate a light on one of our Hospice Christmas Trees - including our, newly launched, Virtual Tree - up until December 31st. To find out more about the ways in which you can dedicate a light or for information on the Light up a Life Appeal, please visit https://www.woodlandshospice.org/lightupa life or call Carole on 0151 529 4143.

A fabulous team of over thirty volunteers from Sainsbury‚Äôs Argos kindly visited Woodlands last week to bring our gardens and surrounding paths back to their former glory following the recent ‚ÄėPavilion‚Äô building works.
The Hospice is putting the final touches to the new ‚ÄėPavilion‚Äô ready for its grand opening in December when the facility will be handed over to the Family Support Team who will work with the young people who access the Hospice bereavement services in bringing their dream to life!

When I first heard of the Woodlands Hospice, I didn’t know what to think and got really scared visiting for the first time but it’s nothing to be scared of. It’s so peaceful and quiet and all the staff have smiles on their faces. When my Grandad was in the Woodlands, the nurses were so supportive of my family and him. They helped my Grandad through his last few weeks of life and made him very comfortable. Even though he wasn’t the easiest of patients, you were all very calm with him and helped him when he needed it. I can’t thank you all enough! You all do a remarkable job!

To be honest I don't even know how to put it into words what an amazing place Woodlands Hospice is! My mum was brought in before Christmas and passed away on the 8th of January, during her stay the staff where absolutely brilliant and treated my mum with so much dignity & looked after me too as I was there literally everyday as well as sleeping over too, even on Christmas Day they gave me a Christmas dinner so I could have it with my Mum, the Palative care nurses and doctors were so lovely too and kept us updated constantly and were so supportive when they were telling us the bad news she didn't have long left, and the processes after she had passed away too! Woodlands is one of those places you would assume because it's a hospice it would be a very sad place but it really isn't the garden the grounds & the staff just make it a very peaceful place to be, and I'm so glad my mum was in there as she was shown the upmost respect until she died which helps me to feel more at peace now she's gone! Even after she had passed away the staff sent cards, letters etc to say they hoped I was ok, and sent me the contact details if I needed support, plus we got invited to a 'Celebration or Life' ceremony which was very emotional but lovely! And understandably I was very emotional as I hadn't been back since my mum passed away, and straight away staff members came over to me who remembered us which I thought was amazing considering it's over 7 months ago since I've been there, I really can't thank Woodlands enough for everything they have done for me my Mum & my family & I Will never ever forget it!

I had the opportunity to spend a week at Woodlands shadowing staff in order to give me an insight into Adult Palliative care services for a new job role.

What an amazing place.....full of amazing people!! Everyone was I met, was dedicated, full of enthusiasm and full of empathy for the people they care for. I have the upmost respect for them.

I work for a charity myself, but after spending time at Woodlands Hospice, I've signed up to the hospice lottery, because I'd like to support them in any way I can.

I look forward to hopefully working with you all in the future xxx

At the worst of times the best of places and people try to ease your pain. Dignity is preserved and families get to spend time together in an environment that allows peace, comfort and even laughter. I will never be able to adequately express my gratitude to Woodlands.
