Woodside Cottage Description
Woodside cottage is a few minutes from Newby Bridge in the Lake District and in a fabulous location that is within walking distance of Lakeside, Lake Windermere and High Dam.
It is a luxury, holiday cottage, that was a mill workers lodging house for the young men and boys from the Stott Park Bobbin Mill, near Newby Bridge and is nearly 250 years old! Today the Stott Park Bobbin Mill is owned by English Heritage.
You’ll be staying in a piece of history! and it has just been featured on BBC1′s Hidden Heritage. A beautiful romantic retreat

We are exceptionally CHILD FRIENDLY with high chair, travel cot, stair gate, fire guard, baby bowls and cutlery, books and toys all provided free of charge , so leaving more room in your car.
We are a family owned and run cottage who pride ourselves in providing a quality cottage and service at a sensible price.
Woodside's OAK BEAMS and window seats within its thick walls, make the spacious lounge with its fabulous INGLENOOK FIREPLACE and LOG BURNER cosy for nights in with a bottle of wine, whilst the romantic master bedroom with Egyptian cotton sheets, designer fabrics and luxury ensuite is a haven after a hard days sightseeing. All bedrooms have designer fabrics and Egyptian cotton bedding.
Woodside is a hideaway of PEACE AND QUIET superbly well equipped, it's an ideal base, many of the attractions can be reached on foot, you can forget the car! . The garden is a real SUN TRAP and wonderful for eating alfresco.
We have free WiFi. and there's private parking for 2 cars with visitor parking nearby.
The LCD TV has SKY HD, there's a DVD, CD player with ipod docking etc.
The master bedroom has a power shower in the en-suite whilst in the family bathroom you can enjoy a power shower or a long leisurly soak in a contempory setting.
Woodside's location is fabulous being so central and within walking distance of Lake Windermere. There's a file of 'local walks', some right from the front door. It is a wonderful area for DOGS with walks from the door and plenty of fields, footpaths etc. 20 GEOCACHES within 2 mile.
COTTAGE GARDEN. The garden has seating for 6 and whilst you sit and enjoy the peace and quiet all you can hear are the sounds of the nearby stream and birdsong. The view from the garden is of the distant mountains across the wooded valley. The garden is child and pet safe.
Woodside is dog friendly , wood and tiled floors on the ground floor.

You need some beer? Well I've got that covered. Go to Unsworth's Yard in Cartmel for their own brew from Cartmel Brewery Need a bottle of wine? Then also in Unsworth's Yard in Cartmel is the Drinks shop, where you can buy excellent quality wines.
Like a bit of cheese? That's OK as next door is "Cartmel Cheeses" where you can try before you buy. An extensive array of cheeses are for sale.
And finally. Have you got a sweet tooth? Then it's got to be the Village Store in the centre of Cartmel. Fondly known in my family as "The Sticky Toffee Pudding Shop" And yes, it's got to be sticky toffee pudding all round. These few shops will provide you with the ultimate BBQ!! Most people go to Levens Hall for the topiary. But in fact there's a fabulous walk from the front gate into their deer park that brings you back where you started. and yes, you can see the deer! It's also a place where, on a hot day , families take a picnic and paddle in the river. The Hall is open for viewing and of course the gardens are world famous for being possibly the oldest example of topiary in the world. There's a very good tearoom too. This is one of my favourite places to have a browse. Brian and I love antiques and old things, and there's plenty here to keep your interest. There is also a good selection of gift ideas. This is a great place on a wet day! Who says it rains in the Lake District? Better still , there is an excellent cafe. Yew Tree Barn is at High Newton just off the A590
