All day demo today at North Yorkshire woodworking club. I managed to turn 4 items that includes 2 trinket boxes a apple and a lidded winged box.the photos are from Orchard croft

At the craft fair I was doing today at Ripon I had the good fortune of speaking to the family of Allan and Stuart Batty. we had a few to Allan's Daughter about her dad not taking her in to the work shop and letting her have a go at turning. I also was saying about how influential her dad was with the skew chisel. she was also on about her Apple that her brother mad her but it was missing a stalk so I took one of my gold stalks out and handed it to her. it is always good to talk about turners past and present. also they liked my work so chuffed .

after the disaster I had the other day when what I was turning and piercing went bang. I had to have another go. so at our woodturning club the other night I got the egg turned ready to pierce and finish. the egg is 5" in height and 3" wide.

Well we all post what we are proud of and seem to discard the disasters. So here is a big disaster all pierced and then bang. Will have to try harder.

what is the most unusual turned items you have been asked to turn. I was asked to turn 4 hand grenades for a coconut shy for the Heugh Battery Museum in Hartlepool.
