Can't keep it under wraps any longer... Put a couple of dates in your diary.... 30th Nov and 1st December we will be holding a Mountain Weekend here at the hostel. Two speakers over two nights with the option to stay over at the Hostel if you would like. On the Friday night Andy Taylor will be giving a talk on his TWO trips to Everest, the first being an attempt on Everest in 2015 from the Tibetan side, but stopped the expedition due to the earthquake. He returned in 2016 and summitted on 21st May, again via Tibet. Keep watching out for more info on the weekend and info on the second speaker, and also how to book your tickets.

A very moody sky last night as the sun set over the glorious Cheviot Hills.

Part of our car park has been transformed into a mobile workshop for a group of Portuguese students who are taking part in an electric car race at East Fortune tomorrow. We wish them good luck!

It's been a great day for walking around Glendale and surroundings. We have TWO walking groups out and about in the hills and coast this weekend.

Wooler awoke to fantastic news today! In Two years time we will be firmly on the Whisky Trail with our own Whisky distillery in the town, plus a visitor centre. Northumberland has a history of whisky production albeit illegal, during the days of border legends like Black Rory, distilling in the Cheviot sikes and streams over two hundred years ago.

We have cyclists, DofE teams, hikers, kayakers and young Families staying with us and to add to the lovely ambience, we have music filling the air outside in the grounds.

On Thursday night we welcomed Barbara Morris , local author and all round nice lady to the hostel to promote her new book "The Promised Journey" the latest in her trilogy. Good luck to her and the book and safe travels as she heads to Canada on her promised Journey !

The Sandstone Way is a 120 mile mountain bike route in Northumberland between Berwick upon Tweed and Hexham along a sandstone ridge in North Northumberland and linking numerous sandstone features, crags and outcrops. It heads into the interior of Northumberland and the Northumberland National Park, before finishing on the banks of the River Tyne at Hexham. The hostel is ideally situated close to the route and caters well for cyclists. With Lockable bike storage and a drying room (Limited cycle repair parts available soon).

A great route which passes the hostel, and for many a welcome overnight break.

We have a new Stamp for those of you who like to collect Hostels Stamps in their book. With the Cheviot Wild Goats wandering around the local Cheviot hills, we thought it to be very apt! #CheviotHills #Hostelling #Northumberland

I have just returned from Wooler Youth Hostel after a fantastic weekend with a group of friends! We had the hostel to ourselves and found everything we needed from a kitchen with every utensil you would need along with 2 huge fridges and a freezer and plenty of storage space for food! There was an amazing dining/recreation room with lovely comfy sofas, and though it was very cold outside, inside was lovely and warm throughout the hostel! I was impressed with the pillows and duvets which appeared new and everything was spotless! There was an abundance of hot water for showers/washing up unlike even some hotels! Everyone enjoyed the weekend including the children, as there are some amazing places to visit in the surrounding area!
