We have volunteers Emily and Adam at Pets at Home in Malvern from 1200 until 1400 today to inform you of the exciting events we have coming up this month!

We find it quite a fitting way to end National Volunteers Week by announcing the total funds raised during our Grand Fete & Fun Dog Show.
Thanks to the tremendous effort of all our volunteers in the run up to the event and during the day, we were able to raise a fantastic total of.....
.....£3,944.50!
... We also wanted to thank all of the stallholders who came along and exhibited during the day, all the visitors who supported the shelter, and lastly, thank you to all of the wonderful dogs who took part in the day.

ADOPTION UPDATE
We've been contacted recently by the new owners of Oscar the dog.
Oscar was rehomed from us 6 months ago and is doing really, really well - snoozing, fussing, eating and just being an amazing doggo!

In celebration of Malvern's first ever Pride, we are hosting a joint fundraiser to benefit both WARS and Malvern Pride.
We would like to present...Pets for Pride!

Come along between 11am and 2pm and help us celebrate, grab a drink, have a slice of cake or a cupcake and you can also enter our colouring competition (adults and children's categories!), as well as take part in our cupcake decorating competition...there might even be an animal or two present for you to cuddle!

GRAND FETE & DOG SHOW
On Sunday we held our first major event of the year and it went brilliantly, despite the awful weather!
We ran 10 individual classes as well as a Best In Show, which was won by our rescue dog Diesel (pictured here).
... It was fantastic speaking to so many people and seeing so much support for the charity and we wanted to say thank you!
Thank you to everyone who came along to our Grand Fete & Dog Show and helped make it such a great day!
Thank you to all of the pooches who entered and made it so tough to judge and pick eventual winners!
Thank you to every single one of the amazing volunteers who put in so much effort, despite the weather!
Thank you to every one of our stallholders who supported us and helped make it such a great day!
Thank you to the staff and Trustees who helped keep things ticking over smoothly!
We will be adding lots of photos shortly so take a look through the albums and see if you can spot you or your pooch!

It's #VolunteersWeek and we wanted to say a very, very big thank you.
Volunteers are the heartbeat of our charity and having them join the WARS family is absolutely amazing.
Volunteers not only give up their free time, they also bring skills, experience and a smile to the shelter.
... From the huge amount of volunteers who will be helping us all weekend to run our Grand Fete and Fun Dog Show, to the volunteers who turn up early every single day to help us clean our cat pens and kennels.
From the volunteers who attend our fundraising events on evenings and weekends to the volunteers who sweat while gardening on our six and a half acre site.
From the volunteers who greet every single visitor with a smile behind our reception desk to the volunteers who spend time with all of our animals helping them exercise, socialise and get ready for their forever homes.
Sometimes the best way is the simplest way.....thank you!

We received another update from the new owners of Lola, the gorgeous little Jug who gave birth to 6 puppies just before Christmas.
As you can see, Lola seems to have claimed the sofa as her very own snoozing spot now!

GRAND FETE & FUN DOG SHOW STALLHOLDER ANNOUNCEMENT
We are now down to our final stallholder at our event this Sunday, but who is it?
It's one of our amazingly talented volunteers, Dr Gene Preece.
... Gene is a very talented painter, and has been producing pastel portraits of our animals for a while now, providing all of his artistic talent free of charge, and only charging a donation to the shelter and a small charge to cover the cost of the frame.
Gene is available for commissions for pet portraits so go and speak to him about having your pet painted.
These paintings are one-of-a-kind and a great way of displaying your love for your pet!

... Launched in 2007, Pet Blood Bank UK is the only charity that provides a canine blood bank service for all veterinary practitioners across the UK.
They collect blood from donors at organised collection sessions in locations throughout the UK. The blood donated at these sessions is taken to their processing unit in Loughborough where it is processed into red blood cells and plasma products. It is then stored, ready to be supplied to veterinary practices across the UK when dogs need it.
