Primrose is one of the mares currently in our care, along with her 2 month old foal Teddy.
She arrived with very sore skin, pregnant and with a foal at foot.
Primrose's story was the inspiration for one of our Horse Trail sculptures. Visitors to our Farm can see her sculpture and you can ready more about it on our website: https://www.worldhorsewelfare.org/Article /Primroses-story

Clippy had a great day at the Gloucestershire Festival of Polo last Saturday.
He met some of our new Horse Trail sculptures and even got to watch chukka!

Have you visited our Garden of Reflection yet?
It is a quiet, peaceful place to relect and remember. The garden was opened at our Member's Day last month and will grow and develop over the years.

Sophia arrived at Glenda Spooner Farm earlier this year. She was very nervous and has clearly suffered a trauma in her past.
Despite this she is settling in well and has developed into a loving, trusting mare who is building strength and confidence daily.
Sophia has just started learning about our crew yards so do give her a quiet hello if you meet her there.

Have you been for a walk to our view point yet?
Fraggle and his groom Billie recently went for a hack there and Puzzle, who is currently trying to lose weight, came along for the exercise - and to take in the view!
Our Yellow walk will take you to the view point, the farm is open to walk around Wednesday - Sunday from 11am - 4pm.

Last week Clippy and his groom Grace ticked off an exciting achievement, the went for a drive around our local village!
Clippy visited the pub and stopped at the bus stop to see if anyone needed a lift.
We are very proud of him and how calm and happy he is when he is working.

Apple, who recently transferred to Glenda Spooner Farm from our farm in Norfolk, Hall Farm, has begun working towards being driven.
Apple has previously been broken to harness but is a little out of practise. We are starting again from basics, this includes getting used to wearing the harness and long reining in blinkers.
Another important reason for doing this groundwork is that it will help her get back into shape in time for summer!
... We look forward to keeping you updated with her progress.

The sun has been shining on Glenda Spooner Farm and our horses and ponies are taking full advantage!
Whether youngsters like Pod and Elf or working horses like Joey, everyone enjoys a nap in the sunshine!
Have your horses been doing the same? We'd love to see photos in the comments :)

10 year old Welsh pony Dippy is excelling in his home at Drakes Farm Riding Centre!
He especially enjoys being ridden out and about and has a new love of jumping!
We, along with his rehomers, are all very proud of him.

1 year old Dartmoor pony Minty is already a big character on the farm. He is a cheeky, confident boy who is now ready to find a home where he can continue his education.
Minty has the potential to be backed once he matures.
If you think Minty would make a great addition to your herd please visit: https://rehoming.worldhorsewelfare.org/ho rseprofile/1169

The majority of the horses and ponies on our farm live in herd groups. This gives them the opportunity to socialise, including mutal grooming.
It is always interesting to watch the dynamics of the herds and see the personalities of the horses shine through.

Loading practise is a very important part of getting our horses ready for rehoming.
Some of the equines in our care have never travelled in a trailer before, many having arrived loose on a lorry, completely unhandled.
We make sure all our horses and ponies are happy walking onto, being shut in, and going for a journey in the trailer before they go to their new homes.
... Toby had a great practise with his groom Steph and we hope he will soon be ready for rehoming.

Pompeii is coming along really well, he has formed a brilliant bond with his groom Natalie.
A great way of building a relationship with a nervous horse or pony is horse agility.
Pompeii and Natalie have gradually built up to this stage using a tree stump to play with.
... Do you do horse agility with your horse?

Mario and Shortie came to Glenda Spooner Farm when their owner was no longer able to care for them.
They are inquesitive, smart boys who are now both looking for homes as companion ponies.
Rehoming is such an important part of our work, with over 90 horses currently in our farm we need to rehome in order to free up spaces for suffering horses.
... If you would like to know more about our rehoming scheme please visit: https://rehoming.worldhorsewelfare.org
