Wrights are Dorset Independent family run wholesale food distributors delivering fresh produce daily.

Wrights Dairies Description

Our aim has always been, and will always be, to offer you, the customer, a first class service based around your dairy needs. Over the years we have carefully extended our range of chilled and ambient products to cover even more of your daily requirements. Most items are available for next day delivery enabling you to restock as required rather than weekly, and yet at extremely competitive prices!

We also make sure we, like the caterer, do not just work 8 to 5, Monday to Friday. Out of hours we have an evening answer phone service for orders and queries up until 12 midnight, so there's no panic if you forget a product or have a very busy evening. We also work 363 days a year, only closing on Christmas Day and New Years Day.

An opportunity has arisen for a multi-drop driver to join our team.
Our drivers are responsible for ensuring goods and products are delivered in good condition at the right temperature and on time.
General duties include liaising with warehouse staff to ensure correct goods are loaded. Visual inspections of vehicles and maintain cleanliness. Collection and reconciliation of Cash on Delivery payments.
... Essentials/desirables: • Current driving license with category C (7.5 tonne) allowance and no more than 6 penalty points. • Current CPC card. • Current tachograph card is desired but not essential • In-depth knowledge of Dorset and Hampshire. • Physical fit, the role will require manual lifting and long periods on your feet. • Comfortable working in an outside environment. • Knowledge of wholesale/catering would be an advantage but not essential.
Hours of work: Full permanent position 5 days out of 7 working 40 hours a week to include bank holidays, usually starting at 2am, 8 hours per day job and finish.

An opportunity has arisen for a night picker/loader to join our team.
Our pickers/loaders ensure goods and products are prepared, picked and loaded on time ready for next day delivery and ensuring all products picked are of good quality before dispatched.
General duties include picking, packing, loading and general warehouse duties.
... Essentials/desirables: Current forklift license is beneficial but not essential. Physical fit, the role will require some manual lifting and long periods on their feet. Comfortable working at times in a cold climate, chillers & freezers and outside. Knowledge of wholesale/catering would be an advantage but not essential.
Hours of work: Full permanent position. 5 nights out of 7 working 40 hours a week. Starting at 7pm and finishing at 3am.

Village Maid Cheese
Village Maid Cheese Ltd was started by Anne Wigmore in 1986 after she had been working for the National Institute for Research in Dairying in Shinfield for 10 years, initially in the microbiological department and then learning her craft of cheesemaking in their research dairy. The company now produces four award-winning cheeses:
WATERLOO 800g... A semi-soft cheese made from unpasteurised Guernsey cow’s milk with a vegetarian rennet. Rich creamy flavour, made using a washed curd method which dilutes the acidity to achieve a soft, gentle flavour. Its distinctive yellow colour is due to the natural carotene in the unpasteurised Guernsey milk from a single herd of pedigree Guernsey cows near Henley.
WIGMORE 800g A semi-soft cheese made from unpasteurised ewe’s milk with a vegetarian rennet. Complex and fruity richness with a delicate texture.Comparable to Brie or Camembert, Wigmore is a traditional hand-made washed curd cheese, a method of cheese-making used widely across Europe.
SPENWOOD 2kg A hard-pressed cheese made from unpasteurised ewe’s milk with a vegetarian rennet. Matured for nine months and comparable to Italian cheeses like Manchego and Pecorino. Flavour is nutty, well developed, kept longer it becomes harder and more piquant and is a good substitute for parmesan.
MAIDA VALE 350g A semi-soft washed rind cheese made from unpasteurised Channel Island cow’s milk with a vegetarian rennet and washed with Treason IPA from Uprising Brewery in Windsor. The West Coast IPA helps this cheese promote a tangy, punchy flavour and aroma with a buttery texture.

Lyburn farm makes a variety of different handmade cheeses, all of which are made from their own cow’s milk.
Lyburn farm lies on the northern edge of the New Forest, straddling the small river Blackwater, and has been farmed by the Smales family for the last 50 years.

Francis & Little Colonel from James's Cheese.
James's passion for cheese began in 1988 when, aged 16, he secured a Saturday job in a well renowned cheesemongers and affineurs, called James’s of Beckenham.
In 2009, he was approached by Cranborne Chase Cheese and moved down to Dorset. Since the decision was made to cease cheesemaking at Cranborne Chase Cheese, he decided to focus on his passion and concentrate on affinage, utilising the knowledge he had gained over the years, ...to develop his washed rind cheeses.
These cheeses are made at Lyburn and Chalke Valley dairies and matured in his specialised washed rind maturing room in Child Okeford, Dorset.
Francis is a washed rind cheese, washed in a traditional French culture. It has a wonderfully pungent aroma, its texture is supple with a softness around the rind.
Little Colonel - A sophisticated but complex cheese, a harmony of flavours contained within a smooth supple rind.

Award Winning Cheese from the Isle of Wight. - Isle of Wight Soft and Isle of Wight Blue.
Isle of Wight Cheese Co. started making cheese at the dairy in Queenbower in October 2006.
The aim was to create a variety of small scale handmade cheeses for the island.... They started winning awards, and in November 2017 they moved to Queen Bower Dairy after the dairy farmer retired. They now have 60 cows in the herd and they are a mixture of Guernsey and Jersey breeds.
Isle of Wight Soft - A soft white mould ripened pasteurised cheese, fitting nicely in between the brie and camembert brackets. Made with cow’s milk, it is sold at around 3-4 weeks, starting off relatively firm in texture but the cheese typically softens up once it ripens. Bronze Award - World Cheese Awards 2010
Isle of Wight Blue – First made in 2006, this naturally rinded soft cheese is made with pasteurised milk. Being naturally rinded, it is covered in green, blue, grey and white moulds. These give the cheese bags of character and the variety of surface moulds that grow on the rind will make it stand out on any cheeseboard. The cheese has been a multiple medal winner at the World, British and International Cheese Awards, most notably winning Best English Cheese at The World Cheese Awards.
