WYKE WELCOMES PAUL BRITTON
After yet another year of exceptional success, Wyke welcomes Paul Britton as the College’s new Principal. Paul replaces Jay Trivedy, who after guiding the College through a period of growth and academic achievement, retired from Wyke this August.
Paul was previously Vice-Principal at Nelson and Colne College in Lancashire, responsible for their outstanding advanced curriculum. As an Oxbridge graduate, Paul is passionate about education and the path...ways it can open.
“I am extremely excited to be relocating to Yorkshire to help lead Wyke Sixth Form College to continue to offer exceptional sixth form education for the young people of Hull, East Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire.
The College already offers a true ‘sixth form’ experience with high quality specialist teaching, a university style campus and a culture that fosters independence and encourages students to be themselves, which we will endeavour to continue with going forward. This is highly successful at supporting students to great destinations with very high numbers progressing to Oxbridge and Russell Group Universities, including an unprecedented 8 students securing their Oxbridge offer this year.
I hope to help even more students make exceptional progress while studying at Wyke Sixth Form College, along with developing the wider personal qualities that ensures they truly stand out. Jay and the team have done a fantastic job; our next target will be to confirm our place as the highest performing provider of sixth form education in the country. I very much look forward to meeting you all in the autumn.”

OUTSTANDING RESULTS
A level pass rate 99%.
100% pass rate in 22 subjects.
... Yet again, students at Wyke Sixth Form College have shown a combination of talent and hard work to achieve outstanding success. This, combined with superb teaching and the best possible facilities, has meant that 99% of students have achieved a pass grade at A-level with 22 subjects achieving a 100% pass rate.
At A-level, we have 136 students achieving the much coveted A* grade, and 848 students achieving an A*- B grade. This represents just over 49% of the cohort.
We are delighted that 9 students have secured successful offers from Oxbridge and 7 students have achieved the grades to study dentistry, medicine or veterinary science.
Once again our BTEC results were outstanding with 57 students achieving 3 triple distinctions in comparison to 48 students in 2017. This represents 79.5% of our Extended Diploma students.
Retiring Principal, Jay Trivedy, said:
“In a year in which there has been so much curriculum change, these are another set of excellent results for our College. They reflect the tremendous work of all of our staff and it is a pleasure to be able to work with such wonderful students. The care, support and guidance offered at Wyke continues to be outstanding. I would also like to thank parents for their unstinting dedication.
The staff at Wyke consistently show their expertise in bringing the best out of each and every student. Sixth Form students are our sole focus and the students at Wyke show what can be achieved when the right teaching, support and facilities are there for them.
As one of the largest A-level providers in the region, I am absolutely delighted with the large number of students achieving the top grades and I know that our College will continue to provide the best possible education for the widest range of young people. We have consistently shown what can be done in the city. It is an engine of confidence and achievement for the future.
I am especially pleased that our Oxbridge applicants and our medical applicants have been so successful. However, I am delighted for all the students and their achievements. I would like to thank the families and all staff who have been so supportive of our students.
These are my last set of results and it is a great way to leave our College.”
Mr John Wilson, Chair of the Wyke Sixth Form College Corporation, added:
“Once again our students have achieved a fantastic set of results. I congratulate them for their hard work and wish them well for the future. Thanks must go to all the teaching and support staff for their hard work and dedication.”

Wyke is an amazing place to study, one of which that couldn't do anything more for me or to support me if they tried. Having awesome art based facilities and computing equipment, I was capable of achieving top A levels and getting into the best university for photography in English league tables for 2014; University of Brighton. The staff have been amazing, they help on transport fees and I met a great set of friends I'll keep forever. To top it all off chicken nugget Wednesdays make them a winner!

User

The extra support we get is great, everyone's willing to help you out whenever you need it and are so friendly! And we have cheesecake! And RAG week is gonna be amazing! As part of the student exec I'll do my best to make sure your time at college is an enjoyable yet highly beneficial one, feel free to email us with any suggestions/questions you may have

It's always enjoyable to represent students at the college through the Student Exec - the college does a lot to support us with our charity work, social events and academic commitments.

I loved going to Wyke 6th College, had the best time and made some good friends there but sadly lost contact with them, i went there in 1991-1993, anyone else?

User

I came to Wyke two years ago by myself worried I wouldn't make any friends and thinking I had made a mistake by picking this college, 2 years later I have just picked up my results and I am over the moon! I made such a good bond with all my teachers, the main ones being my health and social teachers Jodie, Lesley and Jo! Going to Wyke has gave me some amazing experiences such as going to South Africa and I have met lots of amazing people who I know I will stay in touch with for a very long time! Couldn't ask for much more and it's got me to where I wanted to be!
