About X-Pert Health
The X-PERT Programme is a 6 week group education programme for people with or at risk of, diabetes helping them to learn to self-manage their condition
X-Pert Health Description
The X-PERT Diabetes Programme is a specially designed patient education programme to provide people with the knowledge, skills and confidence necessary to self-manage their diabetes.
It is not a set of strict instructions that dictate behaviour change and then measure success based on levels of compliance, but a new, tried and tested approach to patient education based on the theories of empowerment and patient activation.
Participants with diabetes and a supportive family member or friend are invited to attend six, 2½ hour sessions of empowering education, discovery learning, demonstration and discussion. Each participant gets a copy of the “Diabetes Health Profile” which they can complete themselves to monitor their progress by self-testing and obtaining the relevant information from their diabetes care team. Participants are also invited to annual update sessions.

Home workouts don't need specialist equipment. Try a step up!
Start with a step and progress onto something higher, like a bench or chair. * Stand in front of your step, place your entire right foot onto the step. * Bring your left foot up to meet your right, pressing through your right heel. You are standing on the step.... * Return to the starting position by stepping down with the right foot. * Either complete exercise for 30 seconds and count how many you can do or try 15 steps leading with the right foot, then repeat, leading with the left for another 15 steps.
Increase steps, sets or time as you get better. For even further progression, add weights or try side steps!

Controlling hunger is essential for anyone who wants to manage their health and weight, but the important role of the quality of food in this is often not considered. This week's blog takes a look at the key causes of hunger, and how the nutrient content of the foods you eat may be the missing piece in helping you control yours.

just finished this course in shrewsbury it was highley informative and enjoyable it gives you all the knowledge to manage your condition
The clinic presenter Cay held our attention for the whole of the 2 hours for each of the 5 sessions so far attended. No questions are to trivial to receive a competent provided answer
My husband and I have just completed this course in Medway with Cae. We have thoroughly enjoyed it and learnt such a lot. If you have the chance to go on one of these courses then grab it with both hands. Highly recommended
My husband and I go to the group in brighouse and have totally changed our way of thinking. Trudie is great and easy to learn from. Thankyou
Just done a taster course in Oakengates Telford was brilliant learned loads of stuff can't wait to do the full course
Just completed my 6 week course and I must say how well it was put over and highly informative too, excellent educational tool for me I feel so at ease now with diabetes and over the last 6 weeks I have seen 100% results. I cannot begin to thank you enough.
I did the 6 week course a few years ago and have done refresher ones too, excellent and I learned so much.
Fantastic book. Makes a lot of sense to reduce carbs, this book tells you how to do it, what alternatives to eat. I also bought the book "Carbs & Cals" as recommended. They both go hand in hand with each other. Would recommend both.
attended the course in derby being newly diagnosed. 9 months after being diagnosed I am now in remission. information in food labels was really helpful
