One of the best places I've ever eaten. Food & drink v impressive, staff both friendly & knowledgeable, but the setting was really outstanding. If you like the notion of a romanticised 1930s Taipei, which I do. Also, they (well, Natalie, who was in charge) found us a table after only 15 mins, even though we hadn't booked.
One of the all time best - who woulda thought that living in Asia it would be a Taiwanese restaurant in London that would blow one away. But this is more than just an ordinary Taiwanese restaurant and a lot more than regular Taiwanese food. This is an unbelievable interpretation executed to perfection. Every dish was superb. With some even more outstanding than the others. That's the only flaw I could come up with.
I absolutely loved XU! The food is delicious - small, fresh, beautifully cooked sharing plates matched with a great wine list and lovely cocktails. The restaurant is utterly charming- small railway style booths all very close together but the restaurant still manages to retain a big slice of glamor with lots of darkwood pannelling despite the narrow space - I think the set up matches the style of food and creates a fun, buzzing atmosphere. Service is friendly but fast paced in keeping with Taiwanese Street food Café theme so do not expect a lesiurely 3 hour lunch or dinner here. This place is about great food and atmosphere.
Great place to eat. Friendly staff, amazing food and good selection of cocktails and teas. Food flavours were so good and as we shared all our choices we got to try most of the menu. Highly recommend it.
