About Yashin Sushi&Bar

For anyone who likes sushi, Yashin is a must. by Timeout magazine

Yashin Sushi&Bar Description

Time Out says "For anyone who likes sushi, Yashin is a must. Tucked down a side road off Kensington High Street, its exterior looks more like a smart French brasserie than a Japanese restaurant. But the centrepiece sushi counter gives the game away as soon as you step inside. Set on the dark green tiles behind the team of itamae (sushi chefs), a neon sign reads ‘without soy sauce’, and this is how the chefs ask you to eat your artfully crafted sushi. In place of a dunking, each piece is finished with its own flavourings – perhaps a dab of tangy ume plum paste, a spoon of tosa jelly, or a quick blast from a blowtorch (perfect for balancing the richness of fatty tuna). The rest of the menu also displays precision and innovation: a testament to the chef-founder’s grounding in the intricate art of kaiseki cuisine. A delicate dish of saikyo lamb was dotted with sweet miso and summer berries, while buttery sautéed razor clams (just a little overcooked) came with generous slices of summer truffle. The wine and saké lists are long and well chosen, and the clientele and service are as you’d expect from a classy dining establishment"

Yashin tokujo 特上 sashimi Tokujo means exquisite in Japanese. 9 pieces assorted exquisite sashimi which includes otoro with savory soy, hida wagyu beef with dried uni and harami which is toro of the day. Enjoy!

Everyone loves our tuna, because it is distinctive and incomparable to others. We receive our tuna from only the best tuna supplier, and our Executive Chef has his own secret way of preparing it. We are now bringing to you our new tuna sashimi for the real fish lovers out there! This new dish is served with three different kinds of tuna cut, including mouth watering fatty tuna, Otoro. The delicately balanced flavour of Chutoro and savoury Akami. Bon appetite!

Our Kakisu Oyster with Tosazu Jelly is back! When we first opened Yashin Sushi in 2010, Kakisu Oyster with vinegar jelly was one of the most popular dishes and now it is back! We believe that the best pairing for Oyster is not Chablis, but Sake. Try our exquisite sake selection with our new delicious oysters!

Rice is the single most important element of sushi, not fish. Our executive chef, Yasuhiro Mineno has worked hard to improve his sushi rice, making the quality of his rice by far the best in London. At Yashin sushi, our sushi rice grain is one of a kind. Our Master Chef uses only the finest red vinegar; akazu. Akazu vinegar is made using Sake Lees, which is the yeast left over from sake production. This is aged for up to 3 years, bringing to the rice a deep and flavourful tas...te. It is considered to be the vinegar of choice and is used by many Michelin starred sushi restaurants in Ginza, Japan, but just only a few in London. Come and try our new sushi rice at Yashin sushi

ALBERTO was the highlight of our trip but of course the food too. (Came all the way from Ireland to try this place out,we did a day trip to London to eat). Great food and staff. If you are looking for someone to make your meal experience extra fun then Alberto is the man. Puts passion in what he does and goes the extra mile to make his customers happy. The best server I have ever met in my life so far.

A taste of Japan in London! Ever since the minute I walked in, I was impressed with the sense of Japanese culture. Authentic experience, great service, absolutely the best quality of Japanese food and such a great and hospitable atmosphere! Thank you :)

User

Really lovely, cosy atmosphere - we sat downstairs. Fatty Tuna with truffle is divine, we wish we didn't order the sushi board because we wanted to share but have one each. Nice wine list, they were attentive and offered us tasters, which helped us decide. Will definitely be back to sample the test of the menu!!

User

Great food! We always come every time we visit London. "Sukiyaki" is a must try!

User

Went for lunch. Better cost performance than dinner but no tofu gratin served. Probably they changed their service level. Our Sushi set is nice however, I saw with surprise that one sushi chef (not Japanese) rubs wasabi paste on the top of sushi with his finger! In Japan sushi chef always pick wasabi with chopsticks on such occasion.

User

whether anyone noticed the broken dirty curtains covering the entrance to a ... deliciously dirty kitchen? Clearly, these curtains can not stop the horrible stench of a brute. Is a waiter smelling of sweat part of good service ? The Dirty cutting boards chef use ? burning the fish with butane gas? on top of a dirty stone, cleaned with a dirtier cloth?`fish placed on artificial grass ,,,, who knows when it was cleaned for the last time, may be since opening . instead of writing fake reviews to attract customers to leave their money, maintain hygiene, train your staff oh yeah, I'm sure I'll go out there again
