Yasmin'S Horsemanship Ltd

So today I met a mare that had a very interesting back story and had a really interesting way of getting herself up the ramp. She’s a PRE cross TB, shipped over from Ibiza (which I thought was interesting, because I’ve not heard of horses coming over from Ibiza before, didn’t realise Ibiza was a horsey place). Anyway, this mare had been loaded from there quite aggressively and since had issues with loading, once also getting under a front bar to escape a trailer.
Her main iss...ues I found when I came to her, was 1: she tried to ‘tiptoe’ up the ramp with her back feet so obviously found it very hard and 2: she felt like she either didn’t come on or had to go all the way up. It only took a couple of times (once I had convinced her she could walk up and back down the ramp without panicking) for her to come all the way in the lorry. The next challenge was then convincing her she could turn around and didn’t need to back out anymore. Then once she figured that out, I convinced her she was okay if she stood at the top of the lorry looking out.
She’s going to have another session where we will be working on getting the partition across with her, we didn’t try that today as I feel she had worked incredibly hard and had come a long way in the hour I spent with her.

I’m starting to take bookings for the week commencing the 27th of August onwards. I offer grooming, experienced at grooming at an international level. I offer ridden work, both for correcting behaviours and simply to exercise when you don’t have time. I also offer behavioural correction training on the ground as well as loading services for your hard to load horses. Send me a message and I’m sure we can sort something out. I’m currently away grooming at the pony club championships so please bear with me. I will reply even if it takes a while to start with.

Womble went Friday night show jumping last night. After being incredibly difficult to warm up, I thought I was in for a hell of a ride in the ring, wondering whether it was actually worth taking him in or not. Womble surprised me, he must've been struggling with the incredibly deep warm up and the holes that had been dug under the fences with horses stopping in front of it. When we got into the class, he was amazing! In the 80cm, Womble had an unfortunate 4 faults, which were... all my fault, as he was taking me into the fence so I took my leg off and we had a refusal. My mistake, went over second time and the rest of the class he cleared the fences like they were nothing. In the 90cm, we also had 4 faults as Womble went a bit green over the 2nd fence of a related distance and we clipped it with his back leg. We came 4th in both classes, which is brilliant considering this is his 3rd maybe 4th time show jumping, and he is taking it all in his stride.

Monday, loading with Molly. Molly unfortunately had an accident in the trailer a few weeks ago. She panicked and backed up and managed to scramble under the bar, doing some damage to her back and making her terrified of the trailer. This is my fourth session working with this mare; and we're making huge steps to getting her back into the trailer. It's not very often I come to work with horses that have had accidents in the trailer, however it simply means the horse needs more... time and this mare in particular gets to a point where she feels she can't offer anymore, so I have to be careful not to push her too far and to leave it before she feels the need to tell me she's had enough. Hopefully, in a couple more weeks this mare will be back in the trailer and happily traveling, but luckily her owners are in no rush to make sure she can go back in.

Me and Womble on Monday has a nice schooling session. First time for me seeing what my new kit looks like on. I think it looks quite smart, Womble looks good in his pretty in the bandages I treated him to at Sheepgate. (He told me he would like some nice to bandages to look nice in).

Yazi is very good with my horses, a super groom and smashing, relaxed rider. I trust her to back my young dressage prospects and ride my Canadian team horses! A valuable part of my team.

Yazi helped back and start off my mare who had no previous handling.

She is very patient and works with them on the ground as well as mounted.

Yazi has helped me a great deal with my very tricky youngster. She has ridden her through her behavioural issues with calmness and confidence. She is a kind yet assertive rider who instils confidence in the horse. Now that my mare is through her more extreme ridden behaviour, I feel happy to ride her even when she has had time off and our partnership has grown much stronger. Yazi continues to ride her on a regular basis and is currently introducing her to jumping. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her for any work with horses be it ridden or on the ground.

Super with all our horses especially for putting in the groundwork and teaching a horse to load confidently and happy

I cannot rate Yasmin highly enough.

Yasmin came out to my cheeky & very clever New Forest Pony yesterday who normally takes over an hour for me to box. After a one hour session with Yasmin, teaching him the foundations of walking in and out of the box, she had him calmly in the box based on the fact that he wanted to be there.

She has got amazing skill, patience and calmness which is as infectious to the pony as it is to the owner. She explained what she was doing at every step and the reason why to stand you in good stead when she isn’t there to step in!

So today I thought I would see if my pony and myself had learnt enough from yesterdays lesson to get him in there by myself. After walking around the horse box twice, I very calmly walked up the ramp and he just followed me because he wanted to to be in the box! All by himself, very calm as if he’d been doing this all his life!!! Amazing result and I can’t thank Yasmin enough. �

I Had Yasmine out today to help me loading my horse who had recently become sticky to load at home. She quickly figured out the best route with him - she made it clear what she was asking him to do and he then figured it out and loaded calmly and happily.

I will keep practicing with him and will have Yasmine out again to top up what he’s learnt today!
