Went in the other day with my family. Had a lovely meal during the day and very nice and friendly staff

I attended yates Friday day time. excellent customer service from kea and managers Sam and Gemma. I was greeted with service with a smile as soon as I walked through the door. I ordered 2 cocktails which where well presented and very tasty. staff are very friendly and made me feel very welcome.

Amazing night we had in Yates last night to celebrate my birthday, great fun doing cocktail making and host was brilliant and made it more fun! Food was yummy afterwards and drinks were lush and to top it we had great DJ with great tunes. Fun times : D

We went for a meal and a cocktail masterclass for my god daughters Hen Day - cocktail class was great fun - made three yummy cocktails - our waiter was great - thank you Yates - a fun evening very much enjoyed by us all

Exceptionally friendly bar staff..Good Hot food and quick polite service...Perfect for a mid afternoon pint which is very reasonable at £2.40 for a pint of Pride or £2.35 for a pint of Carlsberg in a nice relaxed atmosphere as well I shall return.

Came in to watch the Reading play off final at Wembley on Monday plenty of screens, good atmosphere, food was good, but service took for ever due to not enough staff maybe the amount of customers was under estimated !!

Went for dinner and tried to order twice over a half hour period. Told by two different barmaids "not now". An upstairs function had preference.

Would of given it none, my mates still in hospital after being thrown down the stairs out the front of the bar by a thug in uniform twice his size for simply wandering outside with his pint. Conveniently the cctv doesn't pick up out the front. Use at your own risk there loads of bars and clubs a lot better and a lot lot "safer" then this one

This has now happened 3 times in a row that we have been denied entry in this pub for a different reason every time but surprisingly by same person. His partner tried to provide justification but it wasn’t convincing as other pubs on Friar Street later allowed us entry and have not even once raised issue that was raised by this person in Yates. How can a single person have multiple reasons every time and regards Indian govt. issued ID card as worthless? He not only denied entry but spoke very rudely to us. I have now become certain that he is being racist and such type of activities should not be encouraged at all.



I don’t come to Yates to ruin my special evenings but to have good times like I used to have but probably that’s changed now. If you really care about your customers and their comments then you will take action against your staff who are being unjustified.



I am never coming back and probably no one in my friends circle but this a request to the management team if you are listening please take appropriate actions so that other people don’t get their evenings ruined.

Ordered a mixed grill with a RARE steak...the sausages...one was too hard to even cut into and the other still raw in the middle...the steak was medium at best...eggs were hard...generally not a good meal!

Oh and the Coca cola was flat!

Staff were sitting around the bar including the chef at one point yet nobody asked any customers if there meals were ok or even cleared plates from table until after customers had left. ..

My friend had £500 balenziagas and wasn't allowed in because they're not 'shoes'. The rest of our group had shoes on and he is clearly not some kind of football hooligan. Also, I think we can both agree that Yates is not the ritz and I'm sure your mission statement reflects this. I understand the general rule but your bouncers should use some common sense in these kind of situations. We're happy to spend our money elsewhere.

Most Racist Pub ever...I have been denied entry to this Pub and have been rudely treated by one particular Bouncer.

My Indian ID card authorized by govt was not identified once and 8 of us were sent back only for my ID.

Next time again we were another group of 7-8 ppl and everyone had IDs but they just simply refused to let some of us in for no reason at all.

My friend was asked to show multiple IDs and still denied entry.



It's a shame that big clubs have no issues granting us entry but only this pub and one particular person in this pub manages to ruin our weekends everytime we try to go.



Yates Reading has lost big time credibility and respect from some loyal customers who used to love to go this place. I will never ever recommend anyone to visit this place. If I would have some more time I would have lodged an official racism formal compliant against this person but it's not even worth my attention.



If the management cares to read this, I would urge some action. I travel all the way from Manchester to spend some good time with my friends and get treated this way.

Menus left on tables but no food available as the kitchen “was broken”. Toilets were a disaster area.

I won’t even give a single star to this pub. The bouncers here are pathetic. They are big time #racists !!

A Pakistani bouncer would not let us in on Friday evening and said pub is closing, even though website is showing timings as 2.30 am. He has done this thrice now, by raising unreasonable arguments, which were both - illogical and senseless. He had asked my friend for 3 ID’s even though all were valid and okay. Also, he asked my another friend for an ID by snapping his fingers at her. #worstpubever #yatesreadingsucks #yatessucks #donotvisithere #racists

I was in this venue last night Saturday 25th November with people I brough to Reading to to show them the town of which I was born & raised down here only to be waiting for over 30mins to get served as the bar staff were too busy serving people who only gets though the doors before us, also when I visited the gents the floor was flooded with 90% of the toilets out of use, I went & let bar staff know but it seemed they wasn't the slightest interested , we will not be visiting this venue again

I decided to have a drink with friends in this establishment. On entering I noticed the music at a level only needed to warn everyone the Germans are once again on there way.

Also the DJ has an obvious obsession with Sean Paul as he has now played 6 songs by him in a row. I have nothing against Sean Paul however I didn’t like the whole album in 2003 when it came out.

To be honest if I had the choice to come back or enter a gas chamber I would choose the later.

This is the sort of place that would benefit from a shit on the floor to brighten the place up a bit...

Head doorman is ruining this place ! Pushed a little girl then proceeded to punch her dad in the face �so many people were shocked by this but it's not been looked in to ! Think the management needs to take a closer look . When this happens people might be reassured to go back in there

Almost £5 for a single vodka, 1 dash of lime and soda. No smiling staff. 1 person serving. Awful music. Dirty tables and floor. Half empty so reflects the prices and service.
