Hi everyone, Ye Olde Mustard Pot will be open for drinks on bank holiday Sunday and Monday 12-7 - all pints £3.50. Unfortunately we have no update yet on when the kitchen will reopen, but hope you all have a great bank holiday. Cheers, Dave

Further to our last post - the pub will be open from 5pm tomorrow & Saturday & we will be trying to have a BBQ weather permitting.
Our favourite live act Jack Walton has very kindly offered to do a free gig for us tomorrow to help us out which we are so grateful for.
We would also like to thank everyone who has sent messages of support and condolence.

Hello collective, Ye Olde Mustard Pot will be open Friday and Saturday night as a farewell to all of our incredible family, friends, customers and staff. Thank you all for your support and hope to see you there. Details to follow over the coming days :)

User

As some of you will have heard, a fire broke out in our kitchen at 0430 yesterday morning & caused extensive damage. We are having a BBQ today and plead with you all to come and support us during this very difficult time by having a beer in the sun. We are simply devastated.
Thanks in advance to you all, updates to follow. Kindest regards, all the team at Ye Olde Mustard Pot.

Great #food and a great atmosphere. Particularly in this summer sun, with a large beer garden, somewhere for the kids to play and a dog friendly environment.

Tuesday night Pie Night, pure sublime, homemade meat and potato pie, chunky chips, gorgeous mushy peas and lashings of suberb gravy, add a pint and pay £9.00, what more could you want, highly recommended.

User

The staff are so welcoming. The food is excellent. We had the tapas for 3 of us and ate the lot did leave some of the bread as we were all stuffed.. highly recommend it. Proper English country pub.

User

The family had a wonderful lunch yesterday, I could not fault a thing and I am very picky!!!!! The deserts were yummy I have never had such a cheap desert . The staff were extremely helpful and friendly . We will be back very soon . 🍷🍷

User

Superb, atmosphere was perfect, enjoyed our meal for our 50th birthday celebration, the staff and the server's where great, made us feel very welcome, one waitress was exceptional, don't know her name , she was very funny, and gave my wife a free shot of something for her 50th birthday, first time for everything😍

My mother and father in-law stopped overnight, and said they had a great nights sleep in there queen sized bed, and the same funny girl served them there breakfast, saying she is a real credit to the pub, so well done everyone at the old Mustard Pot we will be back very soon, thanks😎

Just add the funny girl was Kirsten 😁

User

Olde Mustard Pot is my favourite pub . Dave is excellent as is Kirsten the manageress and all the rest of the staff . The food is excellent as is the atmosphere . Well worth a trip

My husband and I went to the last vegan night and the food was absolutely beautiful and such great value for £25 - for 5 delicious courses! I’m vegetarian not vegan but fancied a change from the generic veg lasagne or mushroom stroganoff that seems to be the only choice in a lot of places for vegetarians. It didn’t dissapoint. The staff were attentive, friendly and knowledgable, we will be back, thank you

User

Me and my husband went on a date night ! As my 5 boys are grown up and can trust them as they are independent , and both of us never have time or go out so we treat us selfs to go to ye olde mustard pot!

All I say it was fantastic, food , staff , was amazingly brilliant !! and me n hubby have never been able to resist going again we’ve tried near enough everything on the menu and everytime the food is georgous, tasty, cannot fault in anyway lovely fires and relaxaed brilliant what more could we ask for

User

Impromptu lunch with my daughter today! Was greeted by lovely friendly staff. Fire was blazing and almost all tables were full for lunch. Nice busy cosy place. Food was very nice and comforting! Delicious!! Thank you and look forward to Tapas & Live Music nights coming soon!!

User

I'll start with the staff - absolutely fantastic!! They all obviously take pride in their work, and enjoy it too - it's nice to be somewhere that the staff actually care about the level of service they offer, and not just because a manager says so.

The food: again, absolutely brilliant - a good range on the menu, all cooked and prepared by somebody who, again takes great pride in their work. It really is good food - good quality ingredients prepared well. The portion sizes are generous without being too much - and believe me, I'd worked up an appetite!!

The price: okay, it's a bit dearer than your everyday, run of the mill chain pub. With very good reason!! Worked out about £30 per person for 2 courses and a drink - definitely worth it!!

Above all else, they're dog friendly!! My dog quite liked the fuss and attention!!

User

I love this place. If I didn't live 50 miles away, this would be my go-to place to eat out. Booked and went for lunch yesterday, and it was fabulous - as always. I had the haggis, which is amazing. Everyone else enjoyed their food too. I had apple crumble and custard for dessert. Again, fabulous. Attentive, but not intrusive, staff. Only one piece of constructive criticism, ditch the plastic straws - it's not your vibe, and very bad for the environment. I'll be back soon.

User

I have had a beautiful meal tonight!! I wasn't sure what to try as the menu has adventurous twists on old classics. I don't usually eat fish often but I was very curious to try all the flavours in this dish so I went for the roasted hake fillet with fondant potatoes, chorizo and red pepper and tomato salsa. It was amazing! Every bit of it was gorgeous and very tasty and it was creatively presented! Definitely recommend!

User

Had a super birthday tea there with a vegan birthday girl. Great value meals on meat free Monday’s at £8 per main course. Good range of vegan and veggie options and were delicious. The staff had put birthday decorations up on our table and presented the birthday girl with a free drink. They also let me bring in a home made vegan cake, stored it for me and lit the candles at the appropriate time They could not have been more helpful. Great policies and a super evening. Many thanks.

User

Excellent food. Had 2 roast dinners here and came for my birthday. Asked about the vegan 5 course meal that they used to do weekly but now do monthly (we are vegetarian and pescatarian but had heard great things). Unfortunately it wasn't on that night but they still put it on for us. The staff had genuine enthusiasm for what they were trying to achieve. I had no idea vegan food could taste so delicious. Every flavour was thought about. This was the only time I have ever enjoyed parsnips. The waitress talked to us between every course and was friendly but not intrusive. Plates were cleared and new cutlery brought out in a timely fashion. The barman was creative with the gin. Only thing I can fault them on is that I have been twice now and they have run out of their Edinburgh rhubarb and ginger gin. Time to reorder.

User

Absolutely wonderful selection of vegan food and the location’s not half bad either. Not been for a couple of years but will certainly make the effort to come more often! Thank you

User

We called in at just after 12 midday for my birthday lunch. The pub looked lovely, really nicely decorated for Xmas with fires being lit, the one in our room was not lit and I must say we were cold. Never the less the staff were friendly and efficient. There was no beer though as the delivery had not arrived so father had lager! The food took a while to arrive but it was worth the wait. Steak and ale pie was wonderful, a large portion of soft beef and really tasty. The chips were real!! Home made and piping hot! We were given extra gravy in a boat which we had not asked for but they had the foresight to offer it. The soup was also delicious, thick and tasty with a good supply of bread and butter. We will return and hope there will be more people in as it was quite early for a Wednesday lunchtime.

User

A great meal with tasty filling food. Super friendly staff and will definitely come back if in this neck of the woods again

User

I know management has changed at this traditional old pub, and prices also! It felt like they hadn't quite got into their stride somehow. They were just lighting one of the fires when we got there at midday (and it was beautiful when it got going!). They were out of Yorkshire puds! The menu was too fancy for my husband but it did have pie and a good one it was too. My chicken on tomato bread was tasty but could have done with a little more guacamole on it. They hadn't got around to sweeping the floor from the night before either (I found coins under my table!) Very traditional looking old pub but could do with more traditional food too.

User

This was my first visit in over a year. I stopped here once by chance 12 months ago after visiting my sister in Sheffield. Took the kids today for a drive out from manchester and the hope of a nice lunch - we got the drive.

Bad start - walked in and a young lady asked me if I had booked a table. She then sees if she can spare us one. There are loads free that I can see.

Ordered starters - came out good quality. Mains ??? After 90 minutes nothing. My 9 year old son pointed out that various staff members keep popping their head in our room to look at us.

We were asked several times what we were waiting for —- er ...the food we ordered?

I saw small and large groups come, order, eat and leave - still no food for me. Eventually I asked a young man and he says “well what did you order?”

I said forget it and left. I would suggest putting someone with some kind of experience in a supervisory position. There did not appear to be anyone with any catering or customer service experience or anyone over 23 which I think may be part of your problem.

I didn’t pay for the two soup starters or the drinks - and I won’t be coming back to do so.....in fact I wouldn’t ever come back at all.
