The building of coping mechanisms is best started early in a dogs life and is not a one fit all methodology. I work with a lot of dogs of any age to improve their tolerance and to do this it’s often about giving the dog a choice which empowers them and builds their confidence.
Each dog i...s an individual as with every person and reacts differently to how stress is internally handled and how quickly the bounce back is to a relaxed state. The stress glass as I term it can be emptied and increased in size to strengthen personal resilience. What is really stressful to one individual person or dog is less to another.
