Yha Ambleside

Excellent location, clean and comfortable. Nice food and decent beer so unless you wanted to see the town, you couldn't easily just stay there. Perfect for hikers.

Nice basic place to go , rooms are okay , had things broken in ours. Walls are paper thin so can be very noisy . Shower facilities are really good . Don't pay for food it is army rationed despite paying for it. Bar is expensive but there is a Tesco 20 minute walk up the road . Overall it is a nice place but isn't exactly at 3 star place let alone a 5 star

Great views from the hostel, most rooms are shared with bunk beds. Toilets and showers are clean. There is a restaurant and a pool table, good if you have teenage kids.

Great location and bar area. Self catering facilities were really good too. The breakfast was standard fare. Rooms were clean and plugs for each bed, even top bunks. Shower facilities also clean and plentiful

The location is the best thing about this hostel, the food was low quality and staff were disorganised. Checking in, out and paying for items was laboured.

Foods simple& good value. Beer could be improved, too many anonymous lagers, needs more local ales.

We arrived at the Youth Hostel complete amateurs to the hostel 'scene'. We were seen by a member of reception who explained how the hostel worked and the facilities we could use which was fantastic. Once at our room, we found the room to be clean and fresh with bedding ready. We had our breakfasts at the hostel which were cheap and very hearty (full English, toast, cereals and drinks available) Bar and drinks were cheap and again staff more than happy to help. We'll be happy to return and are already recommending to friends and family!

This was the first hostel I've stayed in, and it was a great experience! The rooms were very clean and there was an incredible view of the lake from the window. Staff were friendly and the free breakfast was quite tasty. I should add that I was part of a school trip and knew everyone in my room, so I can't speak to how comfortable or uncomfortable it would be with strangers.

Great location on the edge of windermere and short walk into Ambleside. Excellent facilities, bar and room. Parking is limited so can be an issue but staff help to point out other facilities.
