Situated on the southern slopes of Swaledale, YHA Grinton Lodge is surrounded by stunning scenery and exceptional views of the Yorkshire Dales.
For walking holidays there are lots of routes throughout the Yorkshire Dales National Park for varying abilities and for anyone doing the Coast to Coast walk, YHA Grinton Lodge makes for a well-deserved stop-off point. If you’re on your mountain bike, set off from the Youth Hostel and choose a path to suit you.
The Youth Hostel is just a 10 minute walk from the village of Grinton which has a cosy pub and a small church. If you’re exploring by car or bus, the larger historic market town of Richmond is 10 miles away. Richmond Castle is a must-visit tourist attraction and there’s a cinema, art gallery and heritage centre to keep you entertained.

We stayed here for the last leg of our roadtrip, it's a brilliant hostel, the rooms are spacious and the lounge is very cosy. self-catering kitchen is quite small but the scenery makes up for it!
We had a great stay here while walking the Herriot way. Lovely room with astonishing views, great food, and helpful staff. We were very well looked after.
Stayed last night in one of the pods! Lovely facilities and staff couldn't do enough for you! Would definitely recommend.
Staff are great, was offered a bite to eat after arriving from a long motorcycle journey (despite it being quite late) also very clean and some outstanding views. will certainly visit again.

Great location right on the hills so perfect for walks. We had a really lovely spacious family room with views across the grounds and hills in the distance. Kitchen was well equipped and well located right next to dining area. Would highly recommend this hostel and hope to return again.
Great Hostel - lots of facilities, plenty of space, warm and comfy. FANTASTIC location.

A HUGE thanks to Nikki, Chris, Charlotte and the team at Grinton Lodge! We had such a fab time! Took some of our pupils, great place for a school residential! Staff couldn't have done more, so friendly and accommodating with everything. We didn't want to leave! The views and surroundings are stunning, couldn't praise it enough. Hope to see you again in the future �
