Fantastic Location, really was amazing watching the sunrise from the couch in the breakfast room...

However...Incredibly Poor WiFi, a stained duvet cover and a curious pricing structure let it down a bit for me... I was told the camping prices don't fluctuate at all whereas the price of the beds will rise and fall due to availability...Makes sense I thought.... but then i heard the pricing...It's £12 for a tent pitch or £12 for a bunk...You'd be a fool to camp here in this scenario - I took the bunk.

I'll be back, but I'll ask for a clean duvet cover and a room closer to the WiFi Router next time - IF you advertise you have WiFi, the signal must be strong enough to offer some internet usage to the customer in the dorm - not just communal areas, its not a HUGE place.

Superb location with wonderful access to Ullswater. Definitely one of the best YHA’s out there!!

Superb location central to some really nice walks. The hostel was clean and well maintained and had a good atmosphere. Would have liked better portions with the cooked breakfast but otherwise the staff were great, very friendly. Will have to stop by again!

Great place with friendly stuff. They always ready to help and answer any questions you may have. Food is taste although you need to make sure you book it with reception in advance. The lounge is very cosy and you can meet lots interesting people. The rooms are clean and spacious. In general the place is clean and tidy. I would recommended and definitely I will return next year! Stayed at the hostel mid May 2017 - couldnt rate it highly enough. I was there with my son and brother . The staff were friendly and informative the place was clean and the breakfast was good. The area is perfect for short hikes or long climbs. There was a lot of bird life - never heard so many cuckoos. Brilliant thanks

Good place, however WiFi is unusably slow & there is no phone signal in the surrounding area. Rooms often cold and could use more electrical outlets.

Amazing youth hostel. Needed a place to stay and relax on a rare day off whilst on tour. Stunning location; clean, quiet and really friendly staff. Self catering kitchen was really well equipped so we were able to cook ourselves a proper dinner. Bathroom facilities were kept nice and clean. Beds were extremely comfortable as well so we got a great nights sleep. To round everything off, it's not too expensive either. Not sure I could find any faults to be honest.

Great camping, not too busy. Good food. Hot showers. Excellent drying room (vital in the lake district! ) Chesterfield sofas everywhere. Close to pub and ulswater. Love it here.
