An impromptu flyby (and hasty photo) of the red arrows!
See these amazing birds, only a 45 minute drive from the hostel!

With the campsite closed for a few weeks, we've taken the opportunity to improve the drainage around the tipi's.....during the driest summer in years! 🌞🌞🌞
Throughout July we're hosting a number of NCS - National Citizen Service residentials, a lot of our guests ask us what this is...take a look at how YHA and NCS combine to allow young people to enjoy new experiences. http://www.ncsyes.co.uk
Camping or glamping with us...keep an eye out for the wildlife 😍
Just realised, we are only one like away from 500! And only 1 hour from a beach like this!
Starting to feel like spring 🌻
A nice new addition to the terrace for 2018 🌙
Pretty...and chilly the last few days ❄
We're recruiting for the upcoming season!

Every young person should get a chance to spread their wings. Because where you go changes who you become.
Big changes start with small steps. Because where you go changes who you become.
It’s #givingtuesday today. What better occasion than this, a global celebration of generosity, to offer hope and opportunity to young people living in exceptionally difficult circumstances.

Wonderful location, excellent for camping as well. Great staff, friendly, caring and considerate. See you again
We had an absolutely brilliant time staying here. As a big group we had two tipis and a few rooms inside the hostel. We enjoyed campfires outside by the tipis on two nights, cooking our own meals and playing games in the bar on one night. Really friendly and helpful staff in a beautiful setting. Cannot recommend enough!
Super camping and facilities. Cooked breakfast on the balcony overlooking Windermere was lovely. Staff were very welcoming and helpful. Will be back.
Thank you
Stuart
Recently had our second visit with friends, we had a fantastic time, amazing views, spotless facilities, great staff, yummy breakfast! We can't wait to come back
Really lovely location, friendly helpful staff, good mix of walkers cyclists, sightseers and families
My first time staying in a youth hostel. It was clean, tidy and had a really comfy bed. Paid extra for the breakfast which was well worth it plenty of choice and it set me up for the day. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Will definitely stay in a hostel again after this experience
Lovely friendly and enthusiastic staff. First stay in a tipi. Was an interesting nights sleep! we wanted to take our dog to the lakes and stay at a yha and as dogs aren't allowed in the rooms we opted for a tipi rather than a tent and it suited us well. The camping facities were amazing. Clean and well organised. We would do it again but not sleep on an uncomfortable futon!
Just had a girls weekend away and stayed two nights in the camping field. I'm a seasoned camper and it's one of the best sites I've ever stayed on - really good facilities, amazing view and super friendly staff! Well done guys :D
Fantastic views . Great location and friendly staff. Also en suite in room 13 and disabled access. Will stay here again .
Awesome place in the west of UK, decent landscape and is a must go!
Amazing place! Great facilities and the staff go well above and beyond. A perfect place to stay if you are going to the lakes!
The bedlight and power socket next to my bed don't work and despite having informed reception , nothing has been done. It's got a beautiful view though and the room is nice.
I'd give this hostel five stars but one of the showers was broken and the temperature couldn't be adjusted (and was far too hot) and in a second shower all the hanging hooks were missing. Small criticisms of an otherwise excellent hostel. The staff were excellent - all very friendly and helpful.
Highly recommended from me, excellent staff wonderful location and superb food if you eat in! All very comfortable and rooms have lovely views!! :-)
Family room for four quite small (£79 for us all for 1 night, plus £5 each for breakfast) but did have a sink in room. Comfy beds (but might be a good idea to bring an extra pillow as quite thin. Nice shared areas with leather sofas and board games and books to keep you amused.
Yes the staff were really nice and breakfast was good.
We stayed in a Tipi, it was fun as a novelty one off. The camper facilities were not too good though the cooker is halogen (which is fantastic) but there were only 2 compatible pans!
Lock was broken on one toilet.
Just came back from a great weekend at your hostel
Food staff and accomodation were great
Thank you

I like Yha. They offer beautiful accommodation, building wise, in some beautiful locations. The views here are stunning. However the place itself feels slightly neglected. We booked a bell tent but were given a tipi. (I'm not sure if the price should have been different). The tipi was awesome and the kids loved it. The outdoor facilities were a bit shoddy. The showers were filthy and of the 3 available toilets one of the lights didn't work so you were in the dark, the seat of another had fallen off and the lock of the other broke with my son inside leaving him to climb out of the window. We did notify staff of this when it happened at 5pm, it still wasn't sorted when we left the next day. We were rudely awoken by drunken idiots at 3am, not what you want whilst on a weekend away with your children, in fact I never want that! We had a wonderful weekend otherwise. The breakfast was great and the staff were tremendously helpful. You just need to stop allowing drunken morons to stay at your hostel
Good for the price, but don't expect Windermere YHA to actually be near Windermere, it's up in Troutbeck. Weirdly out room didn't have a single plug socket in it which wasn't ideal
