i think it's really clean here and staff are friendly and enthusiastic. though some might say that the location is quite a distance from the city centre, for me it was perfect with the walk along the river ouse on way to the city. the price is reasonable as i was staying in a 6-bed dorm.....it was a brilliant stay in york!

We stayed in a family en suite room for one night with 2 four year olds. Lovely modern clean place with friendly staff and great amenities. The kids loved the bunk beds and the games room. Tea was nice (kids ate free) and the bar was a bonus of course. Only 10 min walk on the river to the centre. We only stayed 1 night but will definitely be back for a 2nd visit and longer stay soon. X

The place is lovely and quiet and very clean.we only stayed one night ,the staff were friendly and helpful. I would recommend this place to any one,also it was only a short walk into town along the river.

Stayed in an ensuite family room last night with our two daughters aged 7 and 15. My first experience of a youth hostel and I was pleasantly surprised. The room was clean and spacious and the bunk beds were comfy - I liked the lights and charger points next to each bunk. Food was good and freshly prepared. Staff were all friendly and helpful. Lovely hostel, clean and friendly. Changed a bit since I was here 10 years ago. My Dad stayed here in the 1940's on a cycling tour and would been fairly basic then. Love the new bar with beer on tap. Also the big poster with the history of the Rowntree family is awesome. Breakfast was lovely. Would stay again in the near future.

I stayed here with my 11 year old son . I had never stayed in a youth hostel before and I can highly recommended it . I'll definitely look at staying here again if I return to York which I'm sure I will as it was a lovely place to visit . �

I stayed her for Lady's day at the races on my 40th birthday with 5 of my friends. I was very impressed with the hostel from the room, facility's and the staff were so helpful, nothing was too much trouble. Would highly recommend a visit

I have stayed here many times and it has always been great. The.refurb has made it an absolutely excellent place to stay. Smart, comfortable and well run. Top quality food as always and a very relaxing atmosphere. Stayed with my two grandchildren who would have happily spent the entire break in the grounds. Well done YHA ... first class job!

Great place to stay. We had a family room. Our children age 8 & 9 loved sleeping on the top bunks! The rooms are basic but clean.

Downstairs there is a pool room for kids. A film on at 7pm every night, and a garden to play on at the front. There is a bar and good food served (great pizza!. So we could sit and chill with a beer after a day of sightseeing while the children played. Can't praise the place enough. Staff friendly and knowledgeable.

Good full English breakfast available or use of the kitchen to cook your own food.

If your looking for somewhere yo stay in York with or without children this is the place.

Fantastic, we loved it, first time in a hostel - it's really near the city centre, clean, modern and lovely staff - family room with en suite was fab and perfect for our family - we will definitely return :) thank you �

Fantastic clean place with everything you need. Friendly helpful staff. Pool table, stylish outside sitting area beautifully kept grounds and area. Comfy clean, bedding, beds and pillows (need own towel) everything spot on and only 15-20mins into town or £5 in taxi. I would stay here again in a heartbeat. 10/10 x

Fab venue with everything you need under one roof. Would definitely recommend and stay there on my next visit! 15 min walk into city centre with plenty of parking and even a bar on site :)

Yet again clean tidy and friendly staff have to give a mention for Hannah who was very helpful and friendly to everyone will stay again and again . Only giving 4 stars as the room smelt of cheesy feet not mine !! But after a spray of deodorant all was ok

We stayed here for 2 nights as part of the way of the roses c2c cycling route. Bang on the way and a pretty riverside walk to York City centre. Safe area for the bikes to be stored. .comfortable beds and good amenities. Hearty breakfast too!!

I've stayed here once and found it to be very modern and clean and not like many other hostels that are outdated.

I still didnt go but staff and nice who handle social media thye be proper information ...sure in future love to visit
