Founded in 1890, York (now York & District) TUC aims to represent the interests of our affiliated unions, their members and the community. By providing a forum for elected delegates to discuss and debate workplace and community issues, the Trades Council aims to improve the lives of its constituents by campaigning in the community, lobbying workplaces and elected representatives and supporting, coordinating and liaising with individual unions in their own campaigns, inside and outside of the workplace. Within the spirit and principles of historic trade unionism, we aim to work with a diverse range of groups and people to bring about positive change, as well as to inform them of issues which we think are of fundamental importance to their rights and liberties.
