After a busy week and a fresh week about to start this is a quick notice to any Vauxhall, fiat and Alfa Romeo owners that vehicles have the M32 or the F40 gearbox fitted.
If you put on then let off throttle if your gearstick moves back and forth even slightly then this is a sign of worn bearings also the dreaded whining noise on the M32 gearbox If you leave this then at any given moment the bearing can collapse causing it to strip teeth out hairline cracks in the shafts and ...gears and grind up the end casing causing hundreds of ££ of more damage.
If the m32 comes in it’s own we charge £270 to strip the box completely inspect clean and build back together with new bearings and seals.
If you bring the whole car it’s £450 this is the total cost to you if you drop the car off and then collect the car once done.
If your car has the F40 gearbox and you have the common fault of falling out of 2nd gear we charge £760 to repair this. This involves fully remove the gearbox replacing the 2nd gear itself, new 1st and 2nd synchro rings and a new 1st to 2nd selector hub and sleeve and then built back together and filled with high quality dextron 3 oil.
