About Young Hackney Fine Arts

Drawing and painting from observation classes for kids and teenagers who love art. Highly successful teaching method suitable for all levels. Ages 7- 16

Young Hackney Fine Arts Description

Drawing and painting from observation are essential art and design skills which can be learnt at any age. We have a highly successful teaching method to help develop these skills in children aged 7-16. Regardless of their natural ability anyone can learn how to draw and paint what they see, as it is a skill rather than a natural talent. Once those skills are learnt, we harness, encourage and support each student on their own artistic journeys to fulfill their potential. Making art is also great to develop confidence, focus, creative thinking and wellbeing.

We use still lives and copying from photos and artist's' works as our resources. Each of the above are carefully planned to teach a different topic. Such as perspective, contrasts, transparencies, portraits, landscapes, composition, pattern, etc. A curriculum is planned individually for each student guiding them to explore each of the different topics.

The class runs Thursdays from 16: 00 to 17: 45 and daily on school holidays at the beautiful hay bale room at the Hackney City Farm. A stunning and inspiring large room with a high ceiling, skylight and big windows.

The classes are run and taught by me, Noel Basualdo a local mum, fine artist and teacher with 6 years experience teaching in schools, colleges, studios, privately and in workshops. I hold a BA in Fine Arts and teaching degree from the Institute of Education. DBS checked. I employ teachers who have my same level of education, artistic practice and teaching experience.

All materials are provided. We use charcoal, acrylics and pastels as main mediums.
