Wonderful theatre with a great staff very kind. A very interesting programme and hope to come back soon.

Thoroughly enjoyed 'The Life of Galileo'. Inspired, innovative production whilst staying faithful to the original concept, not an easy task.

Energetic, engaging and first rate performance by the lead actor. All power to him and the director for being spot on with the rythmn, balance of light and shade and Brechtian style of the perforance.

The Young Vic triumphs again!

The Inheritance 1 was a superb play, large in ambition, cast and storyline. Gay writers have produced nothing this ambitious since Angels in America. The sight lines in the theatre a good, the bar large and the staff friendly. Great evening and looking forward to part 2.

Stunning production of Midsummer Night's Dream! Loved the modern twists, the barren staging engaged you within their world and at times, felt both open and claustrophobic. Huge congratulations to the cast and crew - you made my evening and re-invigorated a play I have seen many times - making it feel fresh and new, whilst staying true to the original ideals. So refreshing not to see 'faeries' mincing around the stage! Loved Bottom's transformation, Puck's malevolent presence and Lion's roar was a highpoint. Thank you all!

Life of Galileo. Mind. Blown. Such an amazing, energetic, vibrant production (not always easy with Brecht) and cast. Embarrassingly, moved me to tears. The pre-show tapas and cocktails excellent, very reasonably priced for central London, and the show just knocked it out of the park. Can't wait for a return visit! 👏🏼👏🏼

It's about time! Thank you for theater that engages and is not just entertainment.

I've seen some of the best and most dynamic theatre in the world come out of this place.

I've been attending performances in excess of 10 years, and I continue to fall deeper in love with it.

Absolutely fantastic pre-surgery 'date night'. Fun Home blew my mind and left me close to tears. Book your tickets before it's too late.

I watched Yerma and it was incredible. The performances were outstanding and the leads conveyed each and every emotion beautifully. I laughed, cried and came away having been touched deeply by this play. Go and see it.

I just felt a bursting need to tell "someone" or indeed "anyone" how wonderful and utterly compelling The Inheritance was. I saw Part One two weeks ago and came back for Part Two last night. I'm still on a high from it some 24 hours later and feel almost bereft at not having a Part Three to look forward to. There ! I've said it now and feel better ! Great job, Young Vic. Thank you.

User

Great venue- sound system amazing, wherever you sit, you feel a part of the production... Life of Galileo was really enjoyable- can't believe there wouldn't be a single person that wouldn't be heading off to grab a book or look up more after the show... Great production- will be back to this great venue soon....

Brecht recuses Gallileo . In the round an inner ring road of a path under a planetarium with a chemical brother. Australian cast as Gallileo. Marx meets knowledge. The light show combined, reclining on firm form cushions overwhelmed in a sound and cgi project mapped Festival. The carnival was a high point. Puppets and smoke. The pope. Great costume design. Have a feeling they might win an award.

As first time visitors to the theatre yesterday, we loved it! We had drinks on the upper terrace in the blazing sunshine before heading inside for the main event. The stage and seating are cleverly arranged and the play, Yerma was amazing! Very cleverly scripted, set out and dramatic. We made the trip especially to see Billie play 'Her' and we weren't disappointed. Poignant and poetic, a gritty invitation into the life of a desperate woman.

Last Monday I was at the Young Vic to see Joe Wright’s production of “The Life of Galileo” by Bertolt Brecht. Now Brecht, I know is a bit ‘Marmite’. It seems to be a love or hate thing. However, I happen to enjoy a bit of Brecht. Having been in some of the R & D rehearsals for the show; I hade an idea of what to expect. I knew that there was going to be banging tunes from Tom Rowlands of the Chemical Brothers. I knew there were going to be projections although I had not seen any. I was excited to see how this socialist playwright was being brought into the 21st Century.

Although I had an inclination of what to expect I came away buzzing with intellectual questions, and feeling somewhat inadequately equipped to make all the subliminal connections. Lizzie Clachan had designed a fabulous set. The real world being represented minimally in scaffolding set in the round with the players acting on a circular runway that cleverly orbited around the public who were drawn to the overhead planetarium style projections that illuminated the heavens and the solar system in equal measure. However at times I was torn between watching the fabulous acting from the outstanding cast and the projections that quietened whilst the scenes played out but were still none the less present. For example the moment towards the end when the ‘all seeing eye’ looked down from above. As I left the theatre I was heading directly for the script and the history books. I have to admit history is not really my subject but I left reverberating with questions about Galileo, connections implied and perpetuated in Dan Brown’s book with the Illuminati, about the Inquisition and the Reformation.

Then there was another layer: the challenge to the strong and stable status quo and to the establishment in the form of ideas, which contradicted the theology of the Catholic Church. Again as I sat there I felt inadequately informed about philosophy and politics, but felt sure there was some resounding resonance connected to our state of affairs at this present time.

This is what Brecht is all about. It is about making the audience think and not accept what is spoon-fed. There were moments when we were drawn willingly into the ‘spaced out’ projections of the stars and the solar system which ended abruptly every time with a sound effect that brought you straight back down to earth again and to the sparse set. The actors came out of character from time to time, to introduce the next scene, reminding us clearly that we were watching a play and to keep our disbelief in tact and employ the alienation that we associate with Brecht. The costumes did not place us securely in the 15th Century but we knew exactly where we were in terms of place and time.

Challenge yourself. If you like Brecht, go and see this production with fresh eyes and if you don’t like Brecht go and see this production to think about why.

It was our first visit to the Young Vic, to see Midsummer Nights Dream. The Ushers were very friendly and helpful. The seating was comfortable and had adequate space, with a great view. The play was highly entertaining and well directed. The bar area was convivial and the drinks reasonably priced. We found the whole experience enjoyable and memorable. The only reason we did not rate 5 stars, were the cramped and unhygienic toilets, and the tables in the bar area had not been cleared for some time.

I saw Yerma last Thursday evening at the young Vic,this was my first visit to the theatre, a busy place for eating and drinking as well as the shows.

The story was well told by the actors it contents a little blue at times but enough to make it real,I Lund it a little strange when told by the usher that once in the theatre I was not allowed back in if I came out before the end of the play........strange.

I thourally enjoyed the play and will deffitently return to the young Vic.

I’ve been to this place 2 times for drinks and one for dinner. Drinks are fine. But please avoid to order food as it is unreasonably expensive according to what you get. Small portions of badly cooked burgers. I had to return back my chicken burger and I asked for a refund. The chicken fillet was so dry, the portions small and the overall appearance of the dish really bad. I’ve seen the other burgers too as my friends had different orders but all of them did not really worth their cost.

User

This is the first time I have seen a bad play here. Many people did not return for the second half. Back to the rehearsal room for this one as it just does not work.

User

I have been to Young Vic before and it was awesome! However the play Winter by no standards should be on your stage. Its simplicity creates boredom and anger to the audience, however you try this can’t be sold as yet another deep play because it isn’t, its just monotone, expectable and tiring. This was waste of time and money.
