We are delighted that two of our regular traders at the Hull Street Food Nights and Yum! Festival of Food and Drink have been recognised at the British Street Food Awards for the excellent food they produce.
John and Lisa from ParmStar won the award for the best main dish, with their Teeside delicacy parmo – a grilled chicken cutlet smothered in bechamel sauce and cheese, in a bun.
One of our own in Tom Stafford, who is from Hull and is in his first year of trading with Doh...'hut, won the best dessert and the overall British Street Food Champion award with his Madagascan vanilla creme pat donut topped with honeycomb and homemade shortbread.
The food was judged and tasted by the expert judging panel of Michelin-starred chef Atul Kochhar from the Million Pound Menu, Michelin-starred chef Richard Corrigan from the Great British Menu, 2017 winner of the Great British Menu Pip Lacey and food writer Gizzi Erskine.
Now the race is on for Tom to get packed up and on the Hull to Rotterdam ferry to travel to Berlin representing the UK (and obviously Yorkshire!) for the European Street Food Awards Final on Saturday 29 September.

Good to see Julian Smith, the brains behind the Dominoes, celebrating his time in Hull with a mug from The Tea Shop Hull - available at Yum! today and at Quay 40 in Princes Quay Shopping Centre, Kingston upon Hull every day.

It is Yum! Festival week! So much delicious food and drink is going to be available in Queens Gardens and the Rose Bowl this weekend, that you might as well have every meal there all three days - and don't forget to visit the Yum! Emporium for food and drink to take home too!

Are you as excited by Yum! Festival next week as this baby is?!

Oh, there is just the small matter of several hundred dominoes being pushed over and ending in the Yum! Festival on Saturday 11th August. That is not to be missed! https://www.visithull.org/…/artic…/do minoes-route-announced/

We attended last year. Plenty to see and eat. Street entertainment was good too. Saw a young girl ( about 12/13 years old) singing in public for her very first time! She was fabulous! Such talent

User

Last year I happened on the event by accident but it was brilliant. Fab atmosphere and an opportunity to discover hidden food delights that is in Hull. Excited about this year.

User

Great food. (Even better with winning the quiz)
