I discovered homeopathy as a patient and was amazed to find how effective it was and immediately knew where my vocation lay. I trained at the School of Classical Homeopathy which was set up to train only a few homeopaths over a 4 year period and was recognised by the Society of Homeopaths.
What makes homeopathy different from orthodox medicine -
The depth of investigation undertaken by the homeopath, asking the patient for a complete picture of their health - physical, emotional and mental. This does NOT mean that the homeopath will try to psychoanalyse the patient but just take into consideration everything that the patient considers important.
The length of consultations can be up to one and a half hours for the initial meeting, giving the patient plenty of time to air all their concerns. You don't have to make a separate appointment for every individual ache and pain !
The actual remedies are totally natural. Everything we have comes from nature but a drug made from natural products has had its nature changed by being combined with other products - again from nature - to produce something entirely different. All that happens to a natural remedy - the flower chamomile for example - is that it is diluted many times and mixed with a little milk powder to make it into a pill for ease of ingestion. There are not the kind of side effects with natural remedies that are experienced by patients who have ingested chemicals. If the homeopath prescribed an incorrect remedy it will have no effect on the patient. When the patient takes the right remedy some changes will be observed and while they may not all be nice they are signs of a restoration of health rather than side effects. For example patients with eczema often find the condition "flares up"after a remedy and may feel very upset about it. However the patient and the homeopath will benefit from being patient and watching the skin get back to normal. This is just the reaction of nature throwing off the "dis-ease" that the patient has been suffering. If you are looking for a side effect however I can suggest that the accompanying - or sometimes preceding - change when a remedy is given could be seen as such; things like an uplifting of mood, a lessening of depression or an improvement in the quality of sleep. Women often find that their periods pass with less emotional havoc and pain. Warning - homeopathic remedies are not expected to work immediately like an aspirin. They are not employed to keep a disease away but to make it cease to exist, so it can take a few months to restore a patient fully to health.
Usual costs for a consultation are £60 for the first one, and £40 for follow-ups and children go for half price. Children usually respond very quickly to remedies. . . . . and adults only need to spend the equivalent of the cost of a cappucino a day to stay in good health ,
