Darcie, George, Joshua and Guy enjoyed a trip to Zoe's Place Beach! ( who knew we had our very own beach right here at the hospice!)

Children's Hospice Week Day 3
All week we are bringing you little snippets of what Zoe's Place means to our families!
Here we have a few words from the Mum of Sophie and Joseph:
... ''Zoe's Place Baby Hospice have supported our family for 6 years. Firstly helping us come to terms with having a profoundly disabled child with no diagnosis, then through the heartbreak of having a second child with the same condition, and finally through our recent genetic diagnosis and being only the second family in the UK to have this condition. Zoe’s Place live our highs and lows. They laugh with us and cry with us. They love our children and are a huge part of our family. They are our safe place and our support. They are part of our family, and a home from home'' 💗

On the 2nd day of #ChildrensHospiceWeek, we had aTeddy Bear's Picnic in our beautiful garden!
Emmie, Lucus, Oliver, Joshua, Guy and Darcie enjoyed a wonderful morning in the sunshine. The children played with toys, listened to story books and ate lots of yummy food! We even had a very special visitor ( as well as Zoe's Bear!) The Mayor and his guests came to join in the fun! We all had such a lovely time!

The Crown and Anchor in Redcar, who have been doing a sterling job of raising funds for us lately, have suffered a break in. The thief has taken charity collection boxes, some of them belonging to Zoes Place Baby Hospice- Middlesbrough Obviously Gemma and all the staff are rightly extremely upset, especially as these funds were to raise money for our special babies :( If anybody has any information please do the right thing and come forward.

All week we are celebrating #ChildrensHospiceWeek2019
The service we offer to families is invaluable, and offers a lifeline that we know is much needed.
Here, Natalia's Mum tells what Zoes Place Baby Hospice- Middlesbrough means to them:
... ''Where do I start. We found out 2 days before Natalia was born she had a chromosome deletion. This meant she had a lot of other issues - She has a shunt, is PEG fed and had sleep apnoea to name a few. She has had lots of operations and has spent a lot of time in hospital. She has been through a lot and still does, as do the family. Zoe's Place have been amazing and took Natalia into their family, loved and cared for her.
The staff are amazing and go above and beyond to make sure Natalia is happy and comfortable. I can be reassured that she is safe and spend time doing ordinary tasks or spending time with her big brother. As a family there is always things for us to get involved with parents and siblings group and family parties. We can't thank Zoe's Place enough for all the support''

A big thank you GW Leader wood merchants, who along with Morrisons at Berwick Hills, have provided us with enough railway sleepers to complete our Memorial garden - we really appreciate the support!

Today is the start of Children's Hospice Week! We'll be sharing with you some stories of what Zoe's Place Baby HospIce means to the families that come here.
A word from Darcie's Mum:
... ''Darcie was born with 16 cardiac conditions with no immune system as well as being peg fed. We spent the first 14 months of her life in hospital and when we got home we found Zoe's Place! To us it is understanding, acceptance, love , extra family , fun and safety. I would never trust or want Darcie anywhere else as Zoe's Place is her home from home, her 'play' as she calls it''

Here at Zoe’s Place in Middlesbrough we love it when companies in and around Teesside and the North East get on board by helping to raise funds for our charity. Today we are Featuring LaneSystems, an IT Support company based in Fishburn, Stockton.
Born almost 25 years ago, LaneSystems have built corporate responsibility into the core of their business. Director Michel Lane, sees this as a fundamental aspect of business in general, understanding that the local area requires h...elp and support from those with the means to do so.
At Zoë’s Place Baby Hospice we provide respite and palliative care for babies and children from birth to 5 years old who have life limiting and life threatening conditions. No matter how severe their disabilities, we put into each day as much joy as we can through play, touch and stimulation, making everything as much fun as possible. All care is provided on a one to one basis by Registered Children’s’ Nurses and trained Care Assistants. We care for 6 children at any one time and at the present time are caring for 33 families on a rotational basis. This time is extremely precious for both the children and their families.
You will likely be aware of the difficulties we are currently facing at Zoe’s Place with regards to funding. Due to funding cuts, we are potentially looking at closing our doors for up to two days per week. This is a devastating blow not only to us as a charity but more so those who rely upon us.
How much is needed to keep the charity going each year?
£1.5 million is required simply to keep the doors open and.
How can you help towards this?
We would absolutely love if members of the public and business across Teesside and the North East could set up a direct debit of just £10/month. If this is something you could do then please visit our website www.zoes-place.org.uk/middlesbrough
Of course, there are so many other ways you can get involved in terms of fundraising. LaneSystem are currently involved in our Smarties challenge which is fantastic! Having snaffled numerous packets of smarties during their tea break, the team have committed to filling the empty tubes with 20 pence pieces. Once full, tubes will be donated to Zoe’s Place where we are extremely grateful.
Additional ideas for fundraising include a charity dinner, sponsored run, football game, netball game and non-uniform day at work. We found a great blog with 100 ideas on ways you can help raise money. Take a look at 100 Unique Fundraising Ideas That Actually Work.
We would like to offer LaneSystems a huge thank you for getting involved with fundraising for Zoe’s Place. You can find out about their journey via their blog, Helping Zoe’s Place. The team have also shared what they’re doing across Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn. The importance of sharing cannot be underestimated. When you tell people about how you’re helping, word spreads quickly and it’s this that further helps our charity.
How can you help us today?
