A wonderful happy Zoo! We had a fun day - but do check entry price. This is NOT a cheap day out! If you are a 'frequent flyer' of zoos with family it is well worth becoming a member of ZSL...you are entitled to no charge for car & 2 adults!! Pays for itself in 2 visits to any of the zoos! Also recommend taking snacks/picnic!
All that aside....please do go here, the animals are very accessible & so well cared for. Plus it really is a beautiful park! ENJOY😊

This is absolutely the best zoo I’ve been to. The place is huge, you can even drive in the zoo with your own car (for some extra money). Animals have so much space there, I envy the penguins, who have a pool with spectacular view over downs. There are many animal talks throughout day, wide range of animals, including a little farm, huge playground, steam train and many places to eat. Totally recommend.

Visited on a rather miserable day which meant that a lot of the animals were hidden away or not really doing much. Which I can’t hold against the experience - what was a positive about the weather was that he Park was pretty much empty meaning that all the exhibits that had some action we got amazing views.

One such was with the Giraffes that came right up close and pretty much licked us - which with a hoard of people probably wouldn’t have happened!!

The Park was very clean, maybe a bit tricky to navigate if you forget to pickup a map like we did !

Would I go back in the summer yes - but I wouldn’t feel the need to pay the extra fee to be able to drive to each exhibit - walking is much more cost effective solution unless you have kids.

A great day out for all the family. Be warned there can be a lot of walking for little people but hey that tires them out. As well as a zoo, there is soft play and play grounds too and a small train ride (costs extra). Food is good and reasonable priced too! Dropped a star as some of the enclosures are too small considering all the free space.

Great local venue and, aside from the Zoo itself, a great vantage point to view the Chiltern Hills as far as the eye can see.

Great new Elephant House and the Butterfly House is the best part to meander around.

Unfortunately the Wolves have gone however they have been replaced by African Hunting Dogs which are very interesting in their own right.

My only disappointment is the state in which visitors leave the cafe area - shocking. Give the staff a chance and tidy up after yourselves!

We had a fab day. Was a large zoo to get round, my 5 yr old can't walk long distance so hired a pushchair for her here which helped her loads. Kids loved the animals. Downfall was the amount of kids whizzing around on scooters constantly cutting in front off you.. a zoo is not a place to be scootering that's more for a park............

We're members and here all of the time. It's a beautiful and extensive site. The children's play park is huge and caters to all age groups well. The soft play is also lovely with a great booking in system, on a busy day you had better go and get booked in first thing as there is a limited capacity.

There are plenty of cafes dotted around the zoo with a good range of food, it is expensive but it's as you would expect for a zoo.

There are plenty of well kept and accessible toilet facilities.

Visited middle of March, most of the animals were inside or out of sight due to the wind and temperature, not the zoo's fault though. Saw some amazing species my favourite is the giraffes, such majestic and inquisitive animals. Brilliant day out especially if you have kids. Good facilities, toilets are plentiful.

Visited at the beginning of March, hardly any animals in enclosures. Animals that were there you could barely get to (like the elephant enclosure), hardly saw any zookeepers around. The farm animals area which used to be a close encounter was vacant of animals, they were all right at the end of the field which you could not even get near!
Little to no signs around the park so directions was looking at a paper map that if you didn't grab at the beginning you'd be lost.
It's a shame as I went here when I was at school 15 years ago and it was a better zoo then than it is now! What a waste of money!
