Hasn’t Oakley grown!
Oakley will often be found lounging around on the floats – he loves a power nap!
But if he thinks he's missing out on the fun, he’s quick to whizz over to brother Hanno, give his best attempt at being the biggest and loudest pup around, then sneakily claim whatever toy or fish Hanno has!

Well what a fantastic day ......

My only moan is that i and my grandchildren were taken out quite a few times by scooters .

I appreciate that the zoo is very big for little legs but.... maybe either scooter lanes or no scooter areas would be a great way to go in certain areas

But well done on a fantastic family day out

User

We went here today with family for my daughters birthday, I must say I was so surprised. This place was beautiful, clean and amazing service. It was so much better then the London zoo in central London . The animals were very clean and we saw everything which was mentioned in the website and we got the lovely weather too thank you guys keep up the good work

User

We live about 20 mins away and is one of my sons most favourite places to go, so go fairly often!! My son always always asks keepers questions - often shouting ‘excuse me’ to catch their attention...this is a massive thing for my son to do. The keepers are always so friendly and happy to chat and answer his questions which is great! Nice to see that Whipsnade listened to previous comments made about telling us where their grown up zoo babies go - the sea lion talk talked about the new babies and Oscar to my my sons absolute delight!!

Always take picnic, due to cost of food, dud spend nearly £7 on two hot chocolates which were awful, so binned!!

Will be back pretty soon no doubt!!

User

We came yesterday my son and I and although he had been before he said he had the best day!! There was lots to see the animals were incredible to watch the Giraffe’s were our favourite part of the day. We will surely be back as we live 4 minutes from the zoo! Thank you Whipsnade we created beautiful memories!

User

Visited yesterday with hubby. First time for probably 15 or more years!! We love the open spaces and considering it's school holidays we were surprised it wasn't busier. Plenty of room for children to let off steam. Didn't take a picnic, which we would normally do but just wanted snack. Surprised to see the restaurant by the railway was table service do we settled for a burger from the kiosk adjacent which was superb though not cheap. Cannot say about any of the other eateries though. We will be back but won't be leaving it so long next time x

User

This is a great Zoo where the animals are well cared for & there are staff at every enclosure to answer questions you may have. My only negative comment is that all the smaller kiosk/snack places were closed around 4.30 which is not great when you’re thirsty before a long trip home! Otherwise - Clean & tidy with excellent staff! I’d highly recommend it :-)

User

Myself and my husband had a brilliant day yesterday. The weather was very hot but we found there was enough shade with lots of benches to sit on. We weren't sure if it was a good idea to go, as I am suffering with a bad leg at the moment. I was keen to go so we could see the baby tigers. So cute! It was no problem, because there were loads of benches all around the park so I could keep resting. We were also very impressed with the food. The last time we went was when our daughter was a lot younger and the food was very poor. But now it is very good. Lots of choice and healthier. Well done. We will certainly be visiting again soon.

User

Just got back from their Lookout Lodge experience and we had the most amazing time. Thank you to all the staff for such an excellent couple of days. The lodges are beautiful and very comfy and cosy and the tours were very informative and fun. Not forgetting the food...five star! Thanks again

User

I’m a Fellow of ZSL and I came yesterday especially to see the tiger cubs yesterday. They are very cute. I’ve been coming to Whipsnade for about 18 years and never tire of it. I travel from Surrey but if I lived nearer I would make a trip once a month but I’m happy to pay my membership if I come or not. Saw things I hadn’t done before. Food isn’t wonderful but you don’t come for the food and there are plenty of pubs and a Harvester nearby. However, the burger we had from the barbecue was acceptable. Very good day out and the membership is very worth doing if you want to bring your car in which used to be helpful for my elderly Mum.

User

I hadn't been to Whipsnade for a number of years, its always been an excellent place for species conservation. Many people see zoo's, wildlife parks as a cruel place to put any animal, but, I believe they serve as a last hope for many species around the world, which are hunted in the wild, some for their horns or fur, body parts, or by losing their habitat, due to deforestation etc, none of these things are necessary in our lives, there are other solutions, its all about money. Despite the atrocious weather yesterday, we had a good day here. We brought our young grandaughter along, she was fascinated by all she saw & despite her being only two & a half, she knew the names of many animal species. Keep up the good work, all involved at ZSL Whipsnade, we shall return soon, hopefully with better weather.

User

A great day out as ever. Doesn't seem to matter how many times we go we always see something different. Fantastic to see 2 of the new Amur cubs and what a success story this is, plus the Ring-tailed Lemur area is now open and they are so funny to watch as the leap about

User

We had an absolutely lovely day today for our one year old sons first zoo visit. We were worried at first after seeing a car park full but pleasantly surprised at the vast spaces for animals and visitors to move around. My only concern was the smoking of visitors, is it allowed and are there designated areas if so these need to be signed as I wasn’t happy following others smoking. A lovely day regardless.

User

Visited with my daughters and niece, had a great day. The mark up on food was very high which made for an expensive visit. Would strongly recommend taking a packed lunch. Drinks were expensive too, so if you if you have young children pay the extra to take in the car and have a cool box in the boot.

User

Lovely family day out at Whipsnade Zoo. We took the car in which was great as we got to see everything and could keep our picnic in the car It was a warm day so a lot of the animals were seeking shade but we saw most things. Our favourites were the Rhinos and the Elephants! Ice creams at the place next to the Hippos enclosure were lovely

User

Love coming here with my family. My kids are ages 3.5 and 1 and the membership works out perfectly for us as we live locally and often come down for 2-3 hours which is enough for them. We went today to see the tiger cubs which was a wonderful experience. My only criticism is why does the Basecamp restaurant close so early? Small kids generally eat tea around 4ish and it would be great if we could feed them before heading back. We usually have to race back to the entrance to get them some food there and it would be lovely to be able to eat as a family in the cafe and still see a few more animals before heading home

User

Live locally and visit quite often. Used to love going to the cafe and eating the cake but whose crazy idea was the new base camp restaurant. You can no longer go and look to see what you want pay for it and take it outside. You have to have a table order it on a stupid I pad thing and eat inside. Won't be purchasing food there anymore. My husband wanted a burger from the outdoor bbq but also wanted some chips but you can't do that anymore either. Come on zsl put it back to what worked before. You must be and deserve to be loosing a lot of money in the cafe.

User

Last visit to this zoo was 30+ years.

Was a bit expensive to get in.

Loved the butterfly house and giraffes.

Didn't eat there as was a bit expensive and don't think I'd like to go in school holidays.

Animals all seemed happy and healthy. Staff were very approachable. Wouldn't say I'd hurry back but enjoyed the day.

User

Haven’t been to a zoo for years as really thought they were cruel but went to whips Ade and was pleasentlly supprised there west acres of land and all the animals seemed happy and had lots of room to roam and hide if they wanted to

Spent all day theee and didn’t see everything because Di many interesting shows

Only let down was the base camp restaurant food was good but service was poor had to ask for a spillage to be cleaned up 3 times and then had to

And where dessert was after the brought it before mains and then had to take away !!

User

Had a beautiful family day out yesterday (3-8-18 ) my granddaughter loved seeing all the animals at the zoo . The only down side for me was not being able to see the birds in their enclosures . The open spaces and the huge enclosures was a beautiful sight to see. Would highly recommend anyone to visit .
