The Island Savoyards proudly present My Fair Lady
Based on the George Bernard Shaw play Pygmalion, the classic musical, My Fair Lady, is written by Alan Jay Lerner with music by Frederick Loewe.
... Hailed by critics for its heart and wit, the story follows Eliza Doolittle, a cockney flower girl who takes speech lessons from Professor Henry Higgins. Higgins wagers with his linguistics colleague Colonel Pickering, that he can transform Eliza into a lady and teach her to speak ‘properly’ in just six months. Through this transformation process, Eliza bewitches a young Freddy Einsford-Hill into falling in love with her, convinces a supposed linguistics expert she is royalty and forges a deep connection with both Pickering and Higgins.
However, she finds herself in a difficult position, now too refined to go back to her old life and not with any means or desire to live life as a lady of leisure. After Higgins’ failure to acknowledge Eliza’s role in her own transformation, she leaves his home and only then does he realise how deeply he cares for her.
The Island Savoyards present My Fair Lady with a live orchestra, professionally-designed costumes and a custom-built set. Early booking is advisable.
My Fair Lady Sunday 21st April at 2.30pm Tickets £17, children £15 Box Office 01983 868000 www.shanklintheatre.com

Long before the end of a live show and the frequent standing ovations that accompany it, there comes a point where Elkie does something so amazing that it leaves her audience almost spellbound. It could be a particularly emotional rendition of one of her ballads, a powerhouse blues vocal or one of her trademark impossibly long notes that leaves the audience mesmerised.
Elkie will be performing her biggest hits including “Pearl’s A Singer”, “Lilac Wine”, “Fool (If You think I...t’s Over)”, Don’t Cry Out Loud” & “No More The Fool” as well as many more featured on her recent hit album “Elkie Brooks – Pearls – The Very Best Of”

Mark Steel - Every Little Thing's Gonna Be Alright
A few years ago, it seemed unlikely that the UK would vote to leave the EU; we had a reasonable opposition to the Tory Government; Donald Trump was a buffoon who surely wasn’t going to beat Hillary Clinton and Mark was living the married suburban ideal, since then it’s all gone to absolute shit! But don’t worry as Mark thinks Every Little Thing’s Gonna Be Alright.
Mark’s sell-out show Who Do I Think I Am, revealed his natural... father was a world backgammon champion. Now the star of Radio 4’s Mark Steel’s in Town, and newspaper columnist of the year is touring a show which is guaranteed to make the world seem even more mental than it is.

its is good to go see really good shows

User

What a fantastic night. Beautiful little theatre so traditional. The show was amazing. So uplifting. The energy of the cast was electric they covered everything musical i enjoy and all my favourite music. Loved every minute of it. To say that the cast are all local youngsters was very impressive a huge credit to the Isle of Wight

User

Went to see the summer show West end and beyond it was spectacular, the whole production cast and costumes and the voices were amazing.

User

Went to see the show "The Best of the West End and Beyond"yesterday evening..an excellent show,fast-paced,slick choreography, fabulous costumes,so many well known famous Musical and film melodies super performed by a very professional and enthusiastic,energy-packed cast, accompanied by an equally excellent live band on stage...fabulous!! definitely well worth going to see when you're in Shanklin, and in such a beautiful Theatre..

User

Went to see West End and Beyond Fantastic as good as anything we have seen in the West End .

User

Went to see The Kate Bush Experience. I never intended to, but the person who had bought the tickets was ill so I was given a chance to go. Fabulous show but not that many people there. I wonder if you reduced the prices that you might have got a lot more people "taking a chance" on having a night out. It`s got to be worth lowering the prices and selling more tickets.

User

Went to see Dick Whittington tonight with my family and had so much fun - good jokes and music alike. Thank you xx

User

Well run fantastic theatre - friendly welcome, lovely staff and fabulous shows - lucky to have it

User

User

We got back from seeing Rich Hall at Shanklin Theatre last night in pain- absolutely bellyachingly brilliant! Big names, bargain ticket & drink prices & the absolutely wonderful volunteers, working hard to keep this beautiful building open. Use it!!!!

User

We go to Shanklin theatre between 4 and 6 times a year (even though we live in Solihull). All the staff are very helpful, and seat views are great. Saw Counterfeit Quo again last night, if anyone likes Quo particularly the frantic four Quo you will not be disappointed.

User

Showaddywaddy were absolutely brilliant. Theatre although old was spotlessly clean and all volunteers were extremely helpful. I definately recommend giving it a try. I will be doing just that. Thank you all.

User

User

My best friend and I came from Leeds in Yorkshire to visit the area and found your wonderful theatre and watched the best of the West end and beyond what a fab show thank you Susie Archer

User

Marvellous old theatre very nicely restored and run by lovely volunteers. The theatre architecture itself is an awesome experience. Only wish there were more classic plays and good quality cultural shows (instead of so many musicals and not so good commercial performances).

User

Lovely theatre was there for Gilbert O'Sullivan the sound was fantastic. He was out of this world. I went with a friend & we were so taken by all the workers that were so kind. Everything about this nite was fantastic.

User

Had a fantastic time watching the Christmas panto! Our little girl is 2 and we were a bit worried that she would get a bit restless. Well she absolutely loved it and so did the rest of us. A very professional and humorous performance. I would highly recommend taking the family to see Dick Whittington!! Will definitely be returning next year.

Great theatre, all run by volunteers, supporting local performers and a whole list of with top acts.

User

Great show good mix of songs full monty very funny would recomend good value for money

User

Getting to see omid djalili last night was brilliant! Awesome comic and a great warm up act! Theatre was great and staff were helpful.

User

Excellent productions - this year we've seen Joseph and Best of the West End! - both pre booked early from the mainland. Last year we managed three shows!

For Joseph we were seated in row M, not the ideal view because of bulky patrons ahead - I am sure raked seating would not be a practical/feasible option, but could the seating in the rear stalls be staggered so that one looks between the two seats immediately in front instead of having together past the back of a person's head.

User

Enjoyed my time watching Physic Sally Morgan a few weeks ago x

User

Came over for a dance festival we really like this theatre the staff are lovely and very helpful and the building is lovely

User

A fantastic performance of Dick Whittington. Colourful and fun, and the singing and dancing were fabulous. Lots of laughs and slapstick too. A perfect family treat for New Year's Day!

User

A big thank you to Shanklin Theatre for exchanging our tickets when we had a mix up with dates this month for 'Best of the West End". They didn't have to do that, but went out of their way to make sure we got to see this great show. Thank you!

User

A beautiful little theatre staffed by friendly, enthusiastic and dedicated volunteers. Thoroughly enjoyed Rich Hall last night. Thank you.

User

11 of us ages between just under 2yrs to 70yrs went to see "Dick Whittington" and we all really enjoyed the show. A lot of thought and effort went into it, so that everyone had a good time. A very professional performance, well done to everyone and thanks for a lovely afternoon.

User

Just watched Jekyll and Hyde at the theatre. Amazing singing and performances by the cast, especially Jekyll, Emma and Lucy. Orchestra far too loud would probably have done better with octet. Musicians should accompany not try to be the main act.

A lovely small theatre well restored, the volunteers are so friendly and helpful and the seats have plenty of leg room. To top it all off the Best of the West End show great value for money.

A fantastic performance of Dick Whittington. Colourful and fun, and the singing and dancing were fabulous. Lots of laughs and slapstick too. A perfect family treat for New Year's Day!

A big thank you to Shanklin Theatre for exchanging our tickets when we had a mix up with dates this month for 'Best of the West End". They didn't have to do that, but went out of their way to make sure we got to see this great show. Thank you!

A beautiful little theatre staffed by friendly, enthusiastic and dedicated volunteers. Thoroughly enjoyed Rich Hall last night. Thank you.

11 of us ages between just under 2yrs to 70yrs went to see "Dick Whittington" and we all really enjoyed the show. A lot of thought and effort went into it, so that everyone had a good time. A very professional performance, well done to everyone and thanks for a lovely afternoon.

Just watched Jekyll and Hyde at the theatre. Amazing singing and performances by the cast, especially Jekyll, Emma and Lucy. Orchestra far too loud would probably have done better with octet. Musicians should accompany not try to be the main act.
