St Alban'S Church Description

Founded ion 13th September 1889; St. Alban's (C of E) Church, Ventnor, the Isle of Wight, was a Corrugated Iron structured chapel of ease to the parish of Godshill 'All Saints'. The first Priest - in - Charge was: Rev. Richard Usher. By the late 1890's - early 1900's a fund was set up to build a permanent "Stone" church of St. Alban the Martyr replacing the temporary "Iron" Church. The newly prepared Church of St. Alban opened on the feast day of St. Alban on 22nd June 1922, conducted by Rev. Graham Hunt-Castle. Since that day St. Alban's Church of Upper Ventnor Lowtherville has served the people of the community as it did in the original church. Many items from the historic "Iron" Church are still used today, inc; the baptismal font, Vestments, Thurible, Processional Cross & Banners, Altar cloths and Church Bell which is rung every Sunday before Mass & other such occasions. The Church still has the original banner of St. Alban which was damaged with acid during a protest. Today after many years being kept in a school, it has been returned to St. Alban's Church and is famed on the left hand side of the main entrance.

BE STILL… By water - a river, a lake, a stream, a garden pond, or the sea. Perhaps your hand, or your feet, can be still in the water, washed by it. In silence, be aware of the water of the play of light on it of the way it moves of what lives in it. All life needs water. Apparitions of Mary are often associated with springs and wells. Perhaps pay a visit to Mary’s well at Whitwell.

☦The Feast of St. Alexander Nevsky (1221 – 1263) Grand Prince of Novgorod, Kiev & Vladimir – Patron of The National Guard / Spetnaz and Soldiers of the Rus’ Lands.
His Feast is celebrated today, the 2nd May, under the Synaxis of the Saints’ of Ros and Yaroslavl.
☩ Holy Blessed Prince Alexander Nevsky ☩
... All kind, kind, kind, Grand Duke Alexandre! Confess graciously towards existing, lawlessness, unwarranted struggles, or because you were in the depth of the soul. Orthodox faiths were rich in prayers to firmly affirm thee. You need to be prepared for everything you need to help. You're a winner, a regiment of foes, from the limits of Russia and other countries. You still live, live, live, live and not behave, you are not being led to the kingdom of heaven: initially, what we have is little, how little, and little, and as evening kingdom. God is prospering in the whole world, in the whole world, in the whole world, in the whole world, in all the holy glory and holy glory of God in the Trinity of Saints, Father and Son, and Holy Spirit, now and forever. Amen . ☦

Feast of St. Mark 25.04.2019
Isaiah 52:7-10 How beautiful upon the mountains... are the feet of the messenger who announces peace, who brings good news, who announces salvation, who says to Zion, "Your God reigns." Listen! Your sentinels lift up their voices, together they sing for joy; for in plain sight they see the return of the Lord to Zion. Break forth together into singing, you ruins of Jerusalem; for the Lord has comforted his people, he has redeemed Jerusalem. The Lord has bared his holy arm before the eyes of all the nations; and all the ends of the earth shall see the salvation of our God.

Let us remember our Brother, The Grand Duke Jean of Luxembourg (1921 – 2019) who have gone before us this day, 23rd April 2019, aged 98, may he rest in eternal peace and may light perpetual shine upon him ☩
We keep his 5 children and all the Luxembourgian Royal Family in our thoughts and prayers at this sad time, especially for; Princess Marie Astrid, Grand Duke Henri, Prince Jean, Princess Margaretha, and Prince Guillaume.
GOD our Father, Your power brings us to birth, your... providence guides our lives, and by your command, we return to dust.
Lord, those who die still live in your presence, their lives change but do not end. We pray in hope for the family, relatives, and friends, and for all the dead known to you alone.
In company with Christ, Who died and now lives, may they rejoice in your kingdom, where all our tears are wiped away. Unite us together again in one family, to sing your praise forever and ever. Amen. ☩
He acted in an excellent and noble way as he had the resurrection of the dead in view.
“Judas, the ruler of Israel, took up a collection among all his soldiers, amounting to two thousand silver drachmas, which he sent to Jerusalem to provide for an expiatory sacrifice. In doing this he acted in a very excellent and noble way, inasmuch as he had the resurrection of the dead in view; for if he were not expecting the fallen to rise again, it would have been useless and foolish to pray for them in death. But if he did this with a view to the splendid reward that awaits those who had gone to rest in godliness, it was a holy and pious thought. Thus he made atonement for the dead that they might be freed from this sin.”
- 2 Maccabees 12:43-46
