About Acorn House College

Acorn House College is an independent, co-ed Sixth Form and GCSE College located in Southall, West London, with particular focus in the medical sciences. It was founded in 1999 to answer the growing demand for education in Southall. Since March 2017, the College has been a member of CIFE, the Conference for Independent Further Education. The College is inspected by the ISI. They passed their last inspection in May 2017. HistoryOpened in 1999 by Gladys Watt as the West London Tutorial College, the school was renamed as Acorn Independent College in 2006, and then again as Acorn House College in 2013. The college topped the exam league tables in its first year. In 2013, the college joined the Dukes Education Group and shortly afterwards, Gladys Watt retired. John Wilson, a medical school entry specialist, joined the school as Principal from another high-achieving West London college. In 2017, Acorn House joined north west London education provider Regent Group and Dr. Francis Choi took over as Principal. Dr Choi has been a part of Acorn House since it was founded and is a brilliant communicator of Mathematics to groups of students of mixed ability. Gladys is back at Acorn House as an educational consultant and is pleased to be supporting the College in enhancing and further improving its achievements. CurriculumThe school offers Years 9 & 10, GCSE and A Level courses in a range of subjects as well as offering retake courses, resits for students from other schools, and specialist Medical and Oxbridge admissions courses. It has a small curriculum that prepares students for degree courses in the medical sciences; traditional sciences, like biology and physics; social sciences, and law and related subjects.
