The way you eat those foods should fit your lifestyle. Not the other way around. β€”β€” However there are some minor things to consider: - Having large heavy meals before a workout can make you feel sick and therefore usually affect your performance levels. - Some people like carbs before bed, some don’t. - Spreading your protein intake evenly through the day has been shown to improve protein synthesis. (Being in an calorie surplus does)... ---- The reason for a lot of belief in this myth is due to another reason. Fats are very calorie dense (9 calories per gram to be exact), therefore it's much easier to go over our caloric goals if we eat too much fat compared to protein and carb (4 calories per gram). ---- In general, a good amount of dietary fat should be about 1 gram per kilo of body weight. e.g. 70kg person should be eating around 70 grams of dietary fat per day. ---- Males can get away with a little less (0.7 grams per kilo of body weight) Another good amount of dietary fat is simply 20-30% of your total intake for the day. e.g. Someone eating 2000 calories per day should be eating 400-600 calories (44g-67g) from fat per day. ---- Here are a list of some reasons why fats are so important: - Providing long lasting energy - Hormone regulation - Forming membranes around vital organs - Carrying vitamins around the body ---- Some fats to be avoided or at least minimised are Saturated Fat and Trans Fats.
