90-year-old Betty has spent her time volunteering and raising money for others, it was time she got something back.
The look on her face when the surprise is revealed is so incredibly heartwarming, we love it.

We care about social care because delayed discharges from hospital due to a lack of social care is costing our NHS an eye-watering Β£500 every minute.
Why do you care about social care? We need you to let your MP know why you care now: http://bit.ly/2JWTi8W
We're taking Penny the piggy bank around the country to raise awareness of our campaign to save the care system.

Tributes have flooded in following the sad news that Mary Ellis, the last surviving female World War 2 Spitfire pilot, has died.
We've spoken to Jo Wheeler, author of the book Hurricane Girls, about the incredible women that flew during World War 2, including Mary Ellis and Jackie Moggridge.

Minibus services that enable older people to access services and activities are under threat.
Age UK's Charity Director, Caroline Abrahams said, "If the Department for Transport is serious about increasing the mobility of older people and reducing loneliness they should reconsider their proposed guidance on community transport regulation."

Merle and Stella have been married for 79 years. What an incredible relationship. If this isn't true love, we don't know what is! #LoveLaterLife

"I would like to do it all over again. There was a war on but otherwise it was absolutely wonderful."
We are terribly saddened to learn that Mary Ellis, last female WW2 pilot and British heroine, has passed away at the age of 101.
A brave woman, who inspired so many. Rest in peace Mary.

Great news! As a result of our Painful Journeys campaign, the government have released a new Inclusive Transport strategy which supports our call for better hospital transport for older and disabled people.
Previously 79-year-old Peter (pictured below) had to spend Β£720 on taxis to hospitals because he didn't qualify for hospital transport. This new strategy means this could soon change for people like Peter.
A huge thank you to everyone who wrote to their MP to back our ca...mpaign so far. This wouldn't have been possible without your help.

The UK is set for a heatwave this week with temperatures of over 30 degrees. Although the sunshine can be wonderful, the heat can be a real health risk for older people.
On our website, we've got tips on how to look after yourself and others during the hot weather: http://bit.ly/2uWQOlC
We'd love to hear from you on what you do to keep cool in the warm weather. Let us know if your top tip features on our list.β˜€οΈ

A very happy 105th birthday to Olive, who says her secret to a long life is being able to touch her toes! πŸ‘£
She said, β€œJust keep standing on your feet and do everything in moderation.”
Olive celebrated her monumental birthday with a fish and chips dinner, and said that she hadn’t slept the night before because she was so excited about her birthday party 🍰☺️
... What an incredible woman! 😍 #LoveLaterLife

99-year-old Muriel had a life long wish granted by her care home this week as she took a flight in a hot air balloon! 🎈
Muriel said, β€œI used to look up at hot air balloons and long for the experience of floating among the clouds and looking down over the countryside and this flight was everything I wanted it to be.”
Judging by the wonderful smile on her face, it certainly was a flight to remember!
... Have a great weekend everyone. 😊

We just love this story. Neil and Simon met at Age UK Cheshire's Men in Sheds project, and have become best friends.
Simon said, "We both bring each other out of ourselves, so we both are one another's bit of medicine really."
What could be better than that 😊 Share this video with someone you think would love to learn some woodworking skills. πŸ”¨

Here's a lovely story to brighten your Wednesday. A care home in Derbyshire has asked members of the public to send holiday postcards to their residents this summer πŸ˜Šβ˜€οΈ
The idea is that the postcards will give their residents with dementia something exciting to receive in the post, and remind them of holidays they've taken in the past.
They've already started receiving postcards, and the smile on Ken's face in this picture says it all.
... If you would like to send a postcard, address it to: The Residents, Cedar Court Care Home, Bretby Park, Bretby, South Derbyshire, DE15 OQX βœ‰οΈβœοΈ
Don't forget to share this post with friends and family. Let's send as many postcards as possible! #LoveLaterLife
