The aim is to get you "centred" - this means you moving from a strong core; doing exercises involving the whole body, employing some of those principles (as above). Because of the high concentration element required to perform these movements with precision, and because they involve varying degrees of coordination, the mind element is thus evident. You come into the session maybe feeling tired and sluggish; you come out feeling energised, clearer in mind, "longer" (! ) and simply more centred (feeling more "together" - fewer "looser" bits). Whether you are involved in a lot of sports, dance (fast or slow or whatever) etc. , or you are hardly moving around, Pilates fits in with you all the same.
