Dear patients. Our communication systems are now working again. The whole Waldron health centre was affect, not just us. The problem has been rectified and our phones and computers are back on. Many thanks for your patience this morning,

User

Since yesterday our practice communication systems have been down. Our computers and phones are not working and IT is trying to sort this out. It's not just affecting our practice. Neighbouring practices and businesses are also having problems.
We are very sorry for the inconvenience caused. In the meantime we are open as usual and we'll continue to give you the best possible care.

PATIENT GROUP CONSULTATIONS
Amersham Vale Practice is running patient group consultations to: - improve patient confidence on how to deal with their diagnosis, - what to look out for... - where to look for help.
So far we have organised two group consultations for children and young adults with asthma. These ended with great feedback therefore we aim to continue group consultations for patients with other diagnoses like for example: Adults with Asthma, obesity or diabetes.
All patients (adults) diagnosed with obesity will be invited to Weight Management Consultations-Next group consultation which will take place on Thursday 22nd February 2018 at 4.30pm.
Consultation lasts 1-2 hours. During this time patients will have an opportunity to discuss their diagnosis with other patients (signed confidentiality forms), a GP and Practice Nurse. Patients will have their BMI discussed and weight management plan established.
If you have been diagnosed with Obesity and wish to attend the group consultation, please contact our Practice to add your name to attendees list. First come first serve with capacity for max 15 patients.

Time is running out. The flu season is about to start. Ask your doctor or nurse for a flu vaccination next time you are in or visit one of our regular walk-in clinics.

‘Flu facts'
Did you know?
This year the injectable (adult) vaccine includes strains called Michigan, Hong Kong + Brisbane. They are all inactivated, ie, dead viruses.
... I thought there was only one ‘flu virus - why so many?
Every Spring the World Health Organisation (WHO) takes samples of the ‘flu viruses circulating in the Far East.
Then they try to predict which of these strains are likely to cause the winter outbreak in UK and elsewhere six months later.
Predicting the future is difficult – so rather than settling on one virus they include 3 viruses in the vaccine.
That way, they triple our chances of protection.
In fact if more than one of these viruses makes it to the West, it can potentially protect you against them all.
That’s why, even if you think you may have had the ‘flu already it is still worth getting the ‘flu vaccine to get protection against the others.
Take a look here: http://www.nhs.uk/…/…/Pages/who-shoul d-have-flu-vaccine.aspx to see if you are eligible for an NHS ‘flu jab.

A bad case of the sniffles? Have a rest and stay in bed with a good book.

A quick and healthy start of the day.
Dot's famous muesli.
1. Add some oats to a bowl.... 2. Poor milk over the oats and soak for around 3-5 minutes. 3. Add some natural yoghurt and stir. 4. Add fruit and nuts. 5. Enjoy.
A nutritious breakfast will keep you going until lunch time. Oats are a good source of slow release energy.

Out of Area (OOA) Registration
Did you know that if you move away from our practice area you may still be able to keep registered with us?
OOA registration recognises that there is great value in maintaining continuity in the doctor-patient relationship, normally lost when you register at a new practice.
... Please let our team know of any change in address and whether you would like to switch to an OOA registration.
Note: there are some patients for whom this service is not suitable, for example those requiring access to services which are situated local to their place of residence, out of area. We will let you know if this service is suitable for you on a case-by-case basis.
