About Amore D'Italia Dennistoun

Beautiful Italian food using only the finest quality ingredients.

Amore D'Italia Dennistoun Description

Love is in the Air!
Amore opened it’s doors in September 2008 in the heart of the Merchant City, Glasgow, and has continued to serve up fantastic dishes within the elegant decor which has had no expense spared. All of this makes Amore a state of the art restaurant and a fine dining ambience that can be enjoyed by anyone, from couples, families and casual diners alike. Every small detail has been taken care of from the private booths, romantic setting and even the branded napkins, uniforms and gifts.

Amore is the Italian word for ‘love’, but it is also related to ‘passion’, which Italians use commonly to emphasise the love for food and wine. This business is run by the Perella family, originally from the village of Picinisco in Southern Italy, with care and commitment. But the word ‘Amore’ has been chosen also as the name for the restaurant to homage the owner’s wife, as she generally uses this word to refer to her husband when, as he believes, she is in ‘a good mood’.

the food tasted amazing, the portions were generous and the staff where friendly and helpful. Nice and clean premises. Overall an excellent experience.

User

Went for an early evening meal with friends. The place was pretty busy but staff went out of their way to accomdate us. We had a 3 course meal for very reasonable price and food was delicious. Would definitely recommend. Staff were help and attentative also

User

Passed this place so many times wanting to go in and yesterday we went in for lunch and were not disappointed.

Food was absolutely amazing, the risotto balls were brilliant and my partner said his mozzarella sticks were the best he'd ever tried. The mains were also absolutely amazing, the bowls were really deceiving and the portions were huge!

Would have stayed for dessert but we were absolutely stuffed. Will definitely be back here again, was a great meal for an equally great price

User

My family were here on Sunday and had excellent service. Ten adults and two children, fantastic food, fast service and great value and all done with lovely waiting staff. Highly recommended, thanks Amore

User

Amore is a lovely place to eat delicious Italian food. I have been in this restaurant numerous times since it opened and have never been disappointed in the food served here.

Welcoming atmosphere and staff make for a pleasant experience. Have visited twice in the past four weeks, more recently for my sis in law's birthday lunch. Food was great as always and we had a good couple of hours. If I have any criticism it would be that staff need slow down service a little bit as I hardly had my jacket off till I was asked what drinks we wanted and then felt rushed to order food. Whilst I understand the need for good service it still can appear intrusive. Other than this, would recommend to family and friends whom have already been to Amore, lots

14 of us dined here last night and it was amazing. The food, service and happy, professional staff could not have been better.

User

Went for my daughters Graduation meal. A lovely experience!!!! Food was really amazing and great portions. Staff were nice and polite. Atmosphere was nice and relaxing too.

User

First, visit today for my sisters birthday lunch. I loved the atmosphere, the smell of the coffee the background music, everything was lovely. We had booked Celino's for my fathers 70th birthday and I was so disappointed after hearing so many great reviews. I much preferred the food and general atmosphere at Amore. We will definitely be back. Only small gripe as we got a table without a problem, we had booked and they had no record of it.

User

Restaurant was way too hot......sweat was blinding us......wrong meal came........waitress said it was our fault for not understanding Italian......food was ok......disappointed Amore.

User

I visited this restaurant last night for my 30th birthday. The meal itself was lovely. I feel the table service was too much. I felt the waitress was constantly at the table and hovering around whilst we were eating. The table was getting cleared when not everyone was finished which I thought was a big no no in hospitality.

User

Booked a table for 9 for my mother's 80th... food was lovely service left a lot to be desired ...we hadn't our coats off and they were asking for drinks order..constantly clearing and leaning over everyone felt that they just want you in and out it wasn't a pleasurable experience..coffees just slammed down on the table and for that reason we won't return ..which is a shame as the food was great ..improve your customer service please

User

Been here for a meal a few times went yesterday with my sister starter was nice main course a bit bland just felt as if staff was rushing us won’t be back prefer the one in Ingram street

User

Eight of us are here again last night, food is fab as always and service great .. only small gripe, please don't clear the table while some of us are still eating..

After initially give this restaurant 5 stars, I've now reviewed to 2 as it's gone downhill so much. Never an issue until recently when last week I got chronic food poisoning from eating here, 2 days off work and still not 100% . I was to go to a prebooked birthday dinner two days later but couldn't due to the food poisoning so friends decided to still go as my incident was given the benefit of doubt as weather is hot etc and food deteriorates quicker. We always get there and order for 20 past to take advantage of the pre theatre menu as we were always advised by staff to do with no previous issue. On this occasion pre theatre menu was initially refused and menus not even issued for it. When friends asked for them they were grumbled at by staff and told they better order in 5 minutes.. The mozzarella sticks when they came were still frozen and when returned to kitchen didn't appear back even by the time others starters were finished and cleared. Staffs attitude and service was terrible as was the managers to me when I phoned to tell him the doc had stated food poisoning. He seemed to think I was after a free meal!! No return call as I requested to tell me what they think had happened or what processes they had looked at.. Another colleague got a chicken burger a few weeks ago which was raw in the middle and the general standard of food, service etc has gone down so much we won't be back. We were regular 8/10 table customers.

User

Wouldn't even give it one star ,found a hair in my dinner ,waitress looked at me as if it was my own, wasn't even on top,was underneath wrapped round pasta! ,how i could manage that I've no idea, didn't even offer refund!! ,would never go back ,waitresses are always hovering round about u,makes u feel uncomfortable

User

I used to eat here in the past, but stopped due to a couple of disappointing meals, and unhelpful rude staff, a family member booked this venue for a celebration, so I went, well no change here as they say, we were stuck upstairs where the party were not seated together, it was over warm and tv's on at every corner, the staff were abrupt, rude and unhelpful, as for the food awful, it was either incorrect or just nasty, with all the other fantastic restaurants around I'd give this one a miss, easily.

User

I have went to Amore's in Alexandra Parade since the day it opened, and tonight was the first night I have left the restaurant disappointed and hungry - my 2 fav dishes "changed" in the new menu - Hummas with pate not for me and my very fav cozze bianci the gorgeous creamy white wine sauce is now a very dingy grey colour and all you can taste is pepper ....... so so so so very disappointed

User

I had a reservation at Valentines Day and I arrived on time but the staff told me that a nedded to wait 40 min in a queue outside the restaurant, so we decided to go to any other place. A very very bad costumer experience with Amore restaurant yesterday! I don’t wanna come back.

User

Exceptionally disappointed after a family birthday meal resulted in my mum being very very unwell with food poisoning since 12th April. I called to report this to the owner today (Friday) to then receive a call from the waiter to say "he said he is busy and will ring you on Monday". I explained the situation very politely and asked that he speak with me today as it is crucial if there is a kitchen issue that no other customer endures this. I did not receive a call back. Iv never had to report a restaurant before but im left extremely surprised by this approach. Considering I had explained to the staff member my mum is on 4 different lots of pills from the doctor who confirmed Salmonella. She has been bed ridden since 12th April and barely able to hold down a glass of water. For this "Owner" to not take this seriously is incredibly poor considering we have endured a terrible 8 days as a family. She is still so poorly this evening and I will be taking this further on Monday with Environmental Health and also will be obtaining a letter from the GP. Very disappointing that this was not considered serious enough today for you to speak to me and get all of the relevent details to implement a plan to avoid this happening to someone else who orders your food.

User

Didn't rally enjoy my experience here we sat down the stairs which was absolutely tidy and you couldn't get moving due to to many tables. It is also so dangerous having the open kitchen in a corner as you had the staff carrying hot tables over peoples head due to the limit of space. I ordered a lemonade which was off it took ages to get the staffs attention to sort my problem and to get served.
